Basically, i lost my phone on a night out, phoned the insurance and they replaced it. Then about 2 weeks later a taxi company phoned me and it turns out they found my phone down the backseat of the cab i was in on the night out!!!!

Soooooooo - as it's now blocked for use, is it possible to unblock it, i may as well try to sell it now!

Rep will be left for useful info. Thanks - wii expert.

Dunno about this one, but wouldn't the phone now be the property of the insurance company, seeing as they have paid you out for it? :)

Don't think the N96 can be unblocked (except maybe by the phone company, which would mean letting them know you have t back - even if it could be done otherwise it wouldn't be legally

It would work abroad though so could be sold as 'faulty' on Fleabay, though I obviously wouldn't tell you to do that ;-)

Surely being blocked just means it can no longer recieve any signal, thus meaning you can still use everything else with the phone, so the taxi company will have been able to get his number.

Also for the OP, wouldnt this be classed as fraud if you did decide to sell the phone on?

It is illegal (you cannot change the IMEI on this model anyway) to get a barred phone reconnected...

The phone is still the property of the network that your contract is with, until the contract is paid off...

It will work outwith the UK even in Southern Ireland.... But atm only any good for texting, or spares...

if i'm gonna sell i'd be asking £150, the insurance company can go jump IMO, may as well dip my bread in the preverbrial gravy so to speak. If i choose to sell i will post on HUKD 1st, but i cannot discuss selling in misc.

Networks can unblock them if you can prove you own it.

Which he can't because the insurance company owns it now.

I'll buy it off you mate just to get your address to give to the police. I'm sure they'll be interested.

It's not yours to sell - it is now the property of the insurance company. If you and a buyer knowingly trade in these circumstances, I think you compromise HUKD as well as yourselves. I'm not a moral crusader on things like this, but you shouldn't tie anybody else into what is effectively a theft. Sounds blunt, but it's the truth of the matter.
