Folks I have been looking at the FZ45 and the FZ38 and wondering what anyone's thoughts are on this?

Have admired some peoples photos and they look amazing on some cameras, I'm wanting to take some really good photos of Katie etc

Got between £250 and £300 no more, any advice and help would be great

Whatsthepoint

How would you compare on spec and performance between the FZ45 and the HS10 (20)

They both get great reviews and look very impressive :)

If you plan on taking video, the Fz45 would be better, regardless of it being 720p and 1080p. Also im sure the hs20 is manual zoom, which might not bother you. The hs20 is also a fair bit bigger and heavier, and im certain the iq on the FZ45 will be better on the FZ45 too.

I can always order the FZ45 from Amazon and return it if I change my mind

Does look a good camera and spec

I must admit I'm really blown away with the picture quality, really does impress me more than expensive digital cameras, you can get done great photos

Spent last week looking at cameras, came very close to buying a fuji finepix hs10, you can pick them up for £220 which I think is a steal at that price, the reviews were excellent and showed a very high score for value when the camera price was £300+. in the end I bought a dslr, which came today and I'm over the moon with. Good luck with your choice, I would the whole process a bit of a struggle, but I got there in the end and picked a camera well suited to my needs.

I bought a canon eos 450d bundle paid £330, it's in mint condition and came with a 12 month warranty.
The bundle was camera body,18- 55mm canon lens, lens hood, 8gig sdhc card, canon strap, lowepro bag, software, 2 batteries, charger, tv leads, and a canon remote switch, from eBay.
Slr camera owners tend to look after there kit so I didn't mind buying second hand. Everything was like brand new, everything was boxed, and in there original wrappers.

I'm gona give it a go and see how I like it

Do you think an 8gb card is ample for storage and should I buy a second battery

id always recommend getting a 2nd battery, and i have only ever used a 4gb card, and have never filled it. If you plan to take a few video clips, then a bigger card would probably be needed

Jeeso the spare battery is like £50 :(

Spare battery is £11.50 on eBay, but I would hold back until you are happy with the camera.

Ok...... camera came today and I had a play with it and thought it felt very cheap plasticy looking
if you know what I mean

I had a few takes of things about the house but I just couldn't get a great picture, is there anything you guys can let me know that I was doing wrong?
After I had taken the photo I looked at it on the lcd screen and thought....that looks rubbish, I must be doing something wrong.
Anyway I immediately wrapped the whole thing back up again and shoved it in the cupboard :(

The lcd is a bit low res, so ideally should view on a pc to see how they actually turn out. What settings did you use? i found my FZ38 incredibly easy to use and easy to get really nice shots with.

I've taken it back out the packaging, going to give it a go tomorrow and see how I like it

Any ideas what settings I should put the camera on for? I know the dial on top of the camera is there but is there things I should be doing within the settings for great photos;

taking photos of people
different conditions of weather
changing any of the settings like ISO etc

Think I should maybe buy a 'Photography made easy' book :P
