Got an Orange San Fransisco From Argos today and haven't got a signal yet.Not one bar.Just has an 'x' in it the whole time.Anyone else had this problem? We have another orange phone in the house that is getting a signal so can't understand it.

Some phones have a better/worse signal than others, try maybe taking it outside and see if you get a signal at all elsewhere
#2
Customer services said it was cos the sim wasnt registered (which I thought was bull).Anyway did that over the phone but still nothing. So phoned them back and they said as it's a new phone it usually takes a few hours to get a signal.

that doesn't sound right to me, especially as I bought the same phone from Argos just after christmas and got a signal straight away, not a very good one but I did get one.

Id see what its like tomorrow and if you still don't have a signal take it back to Argos and tell them its faulty and get them to swap it. They should do this without a problem. Either that or take it into an Orange shop and explain the situation to them

I think it may be faulty but don't want to give up just yet cos it was the last one in Argos. So thought I would ask here.

If you don't get any help from here try an orange shop as they don't have any left in your Argos, hopefully they may swap it for you, I don't know but its worth a try.

Mine was blocked and i had to phone Orange CS to get it lifted Apparently they block them incase of theft. I'd phone orange again.
#10
simple test.... pull out the sim and stick into another phone and see if you get a signal if so then your sanfran is blocked
#11
yes i could get a signal in another phone.
#12
in that case its blocked, call cs and ask them to do an imei check
#13
The signal i get at home on my Sans Fran is nowhere near as good as the one i got on my 3 year old Nokia :-(

Just did and it's not blacklisted.Although I am now on hold waiting for some guy to do diagnostics.

I had the same problem with mine from argos, CS said they'd unblocked, registered sim etc - eventually they sent me out a replacement handset, the diagnostic fella said i had a dud antenna.

the replacement had a squeaky back.

third handset now - this one has squeaky buttons!

Well Orange have said they don't know whats wrong it must be a faulty handset. They suggested I bring it back to store for a replacement. As a goodwill gesture they would offer me a new phone @ £109

So they are offering for you to use your Argos refund to buy one from them at a 'special price' of £109?
I'd either suggest they ram their offer, or if you have the patience - press them to a better one. Were you already an Orange customer - 'cos if you - they should be offering a £30 loyalty discount anyway!

First time with Orange for me.I was gonna unlock it and put my giffgaff sim in.

They're only £89 in Argos.

Hubby brought the phone back to argos today and when he got into town the phone started beeping. There was a signal and some messages from orange. So he came home thinking maybe it was now fixed. But as he got to within about half a mile of our house the signal dropped.so we unlocked it and put my giffgaff sim in.He drove back up the road hoping that o2 would lock on and stay on.It did but as he drove back home the signal dropped again and didn't come on.So back to argos he went for a refund.Don't know if it was a faulty handset or just coverage issues.

Sounds like coverage issues.
