Help Needed for short break ideas/cheap yet good hotels etc

Hi all,

Right here goes!

My gf and I have managed to get some time off work together starting this Saturday 26th through to Sunday 3rd and would like to do something special together.

I came up with the idea of a hotel stay, and visit local attractions, or do things nice and romantic in the local area of the said hotel.

We live in the South East (Canterbury to be precise) but are happy to travel a hundred miles or so, which I guess means south/south east.

The sort of thing I would like is a nice romantic hotel with decent rooms/food, hopefully in the countryside with lovely views/walks, and some sort of facilities for pampering/relaxing/entertainment.

Now, I've searched and searched and come up with one place, a hotel near Brighton which has a leisure centre attached and seems to be pretty cheap, but not sure what there is to do there, apart from head to Brighton for a day maybe? Our budget is about 150 each and ideally would like 2-3 days break.

So, do any of you have any ideas for a hotel/area, and any good experiences with anything similar? Is Brighton area good for a couple of days worth of entertainment (sights, art gallaries, theatre, anything interesting to have a nice time)

I'm 26 (nearly ;)) and the other half is 22 (nearly :D) if that helps you in coming to some sort of decision!

Thanks so much in advance to all that can help with ideas/solutions!

Hey nrps1, just bumping this up for you :)

I think Brighton is quite good for a fews days but can't say I've done many romantic breaks lately!

and the best bit is its moderately close to canterbury, an absolute stonker of a hotel, with leisure activities and excellent facilities, I've got a newly refurbished room, and I went through a KitKash offer (300 points) to get 2 night stay for only £115 instead of about £320! w00t!
