Year old?? Take it back to the supplier because that is not reasonable wear and tear. You should ask for it to be repaired and do not take no for an answer...

prob crumbs under the keys....I generally pop my keys off every so often and clean underneath with an unused make up brush....although youre not meant to do this as its so easy to break the keys so they dont fit back on....You can buy compressed air to try spray any crumbs out...

Try turning it upside down and shaking it ,sometimes crumbs or dust gets underneath the keys .

I've had this problem a few times with old lappys. I've found it's one of two things.

1) You've got a load of dust and general cr*p under the keys.
- Solution either one of those 'cans of air' cleaners. Stand the open laptop on it's side and blast between the keys with the compressed air. It's both surprising and scary how much can come out (do it over newspaper).

2) Constant use and moving has loosen the connections under the keyboard.
- Solution (ONLY TRY IF YOU ARE HAPPY OPENING YOUR LAPTOP). Most laptops have a screw or two that need to be removed and then the keyboard pops free. Clean out any dust etc.. (using the same sort of can of air stuff). Then make sure or the connectors are firmly in place. It is worth downloading the repair manual from manufacturers website (if available).

If neither of these work then it's beyond me. Sorry.

yeah like I said you're not really meant to take them off...mines kinda an old laptop so would'nt be too fussed if a key broke, if you do think its crumbs the compressed air might work or even blowing in between the keys...
or shaking it upside down as jeany suggested

Not the wisest idea. Laptops don't always like being shaken! It can damage the hinges and possibly make any loose connections worse. Also you risk dropping it!

the blowing sorta worked. i dont have to press them as hard now. il keep blowing it LOL.
if i fail i shall try a can of air, never heard of those like lol. but im sure they do the job if it is dust ect. x

I'd just be very careful doing that. Some lappys have p*ss weak hinges.

Yeah, that's a disadvantage of laptop-style keyboards. Normal ones are much more robust when it comes to pulling the keys off, and are a lot easier to take apart to clean.

Some laptops have easily removable keyboards so if yours is one of them then you may be able to take it apart and possibly clean it properly.
