Help Needed: Portable HD not meant for Macs?

This hard drive is not suitable for Macs but I have heard that there is a way of getting round this by reformatting it.
Can anyone help?

What size files are you planning on using it for? I thought you could use fat32 on a mac if files are under 4gb. I might be wrong though I've never had a mac....

^I'm not looking to exceed the 4gb limit on fat32, mostly music files and documents.
