sorry about that but ok
here we go
1 sky plus box in lounge which is great and working fine
1 sky box in daughters bedroom - working fine
1 virgin box in kitchen - working fine
now had new tv for 2nd lounge - (I have a spare virgin box and a spare sky box)

the new tv is separate from all other tv's in another room and it has freeview with an ariel connected, works fine but just wondered if I could connect either a sky box or a virgin box and if so what goes where

thanks

Same thing applies from previous answer!

To receive the signal from either satellite or Virgin, it needs to be fed into the second lounge. So you need to run a cable from your dish that goes into the room (which you can do). Not sure on the legalities of running to the cable box though (and if you could receive anything on it - unless of course its one of those dodgy boxes - in which case as long as the cable signal reaches the box, you'll get the lot!)

So to recap, whichever route you go, you need to feed the box. A terrestrial aerial is irrelevant to receive programs from these receivers. Luckily, you have a spare connection on the LNB on your sky dish - so as long as you can get the cable to the box, you're laughing.

Whilst you can connect the terrestrial aerial to the sky box, its not necessary. Always use a scart for a better picture. (Unless its an HD box - then use the HDMI connectors. I assume its a plain SD box though!)

thank you so much - yes its a legal box, we used to have in the kitchen but then virgin asked for me to come back to them for 1p' so we did in case sky ever went off. Hence the spare sk box.

The light is on on the sky box but didnt know how to tune it in will keep trying thanks so much for you help, you are amazing :)

The light is on.... but is it connected to the dish via a cable? There is no tuning to do with it. Just connect the dish (LNB) to the sky box, then connect the sky box to the TV with scart.

When connected to the TV with the scart, is anything showing (make sure its on AV)? Press the TV guide button on the remote and it will give you the usual blue menu screen. (Assuming the box is working)

if the sky box is connected via a scart lead then just press the av button on the remote

i think you should update on how you are actually connecting it so people can help more easily.
this could even be a remote control problem (press home and select right signal) if connected properly but i think it sounds like skybox isn't actually connected to the dish?
