Help needed to convert some files please!!

Hello

I have some files in MPeg Layer 3 format, which I need to convert to MP3 for a cd.

There are 87 files in the folder, giving a total of 284mb - I am hoping if I convert to MP3, I can fit on one cd.

Does anyone know how to do this, and of any good SIMPLE software I can use, as never converted anything before.

Thanks!

MPEG layer 3 IS MP3 so I don't understand why you want to convert. Are you trying to create an audio CD to play on a standard CD player or a data CD for PC's etc. If it's a data CD then no need to convert, if it's an audio CD then there's no way you're gonna get your 87 tracks on it as it will have an 80 minute limit no matter how small the files that created it were.

Exactly what I was thinking!

MPEG Layer 3 is already MP3, you just need to burn them as a data disc using a program such as Nero

Oh ok!

Its for an audio book! How about if I burn to a dvd or memory stick as car stereo takes both of those?

get Nero, create a new audio cd and stick your 87 tracks in, it'll soon tell you if it'll be too long for a 80min CD and it converts all sorts of audio files to CD audio tracks on the fly.

if the stereo plays mp3's, just bung them on a data cd

it sounds like the files are already in the right format

Does your car stereo play MP3 tracks directly off a CD?

if so, and if the 87 files = all 35 books, they'll all easily fit on one CD. Just need to burn it as a Data CD rather than an Audio CD

Hi Chris

The 87 files are just one book! have not even looked at the other files as yet! :?

My car stereo does play mp3 straight from cd as well.

Just highlight the files to want to copy in windows, then on the left hand side click "copy these files" then choose your cd burner as the place to copy them to.

you can fit roughly fit140 5 Megabyte MP3 files onto a 700MB CD so depending on the file sizes you could get 2 audio books onto 1 CD

284mb of mp3s should easily fit on a cd!
