Help needed to sting Sony!

Hello all

I contacted Sony asking if they are going to release drivers for W7, as I'm unable to make full use of all the features of my laptop with the new OS. This is the reply I got:

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for contacting us.

Unfortunately, we can only provide drivers for Vaio's that come preinstalled with Windows 7 or Vaio's that can upgrade to Windows 7 through the official Sony upgrade website - http://club.vaio.sony.eu/clubvaio/gb/en/windows7/order.htm

We do not have the drivers to supply support for your query.

To reinstall the original operating system, you will need to use the recovery disks that you were prompted to create when first starting Windows on your Vaio.

If you did not create disks, you can purchase disks from us.

Please advise if you would like us to provide you with a set of recovery disks.

Best Regards,

Sony Vaio Team

I personally think this is shambolic, and I want to return an e-mail which will really sting them. I want to include an example of another laptop manufacturer who is providing consumers with W7 drivers. This would really help!

It's also worth noting that my laptop is only one year old, runs on excellent specs, yet they're still not able to support it, in terms of drivers!

So I just need examples of other laptop makers that supply W7 drivers for laptops that are a year old or so. I need to take them down.

most of the devices like the sound card will work with the generic drivers from the oems and if not available now soon will be anyway, otherwise is it worth the hassle? move on and don't buy sony again

Same when Vista launched...........it's just a case of waiting. :)

well actually, its not so simple:

My hot keys don't work, my mouse trackpad doesn't fully work (side scrolling), bluetooth doesn't work, graphics drivers don't work (so I can't alter advanced settings). I can't even alter the brightness of the screen. So its not so simple, that I can 'move on'. I think that's shocking behaviour from Sony to be honest, and its poor customer retention: I won't be buying Sony again.

Do you think though? Because from their response it seems like they're not going to...

lol i never said it was simple but depends on definition of simple, i would call "putting in restore disk to go back to vista" quite simple, just not one you would like.
to be fair they wouldn't replace your tv either if a "new" system started being broadcast that wasn't available when they made/you bought the tv

I think they'll have to eventually due to demand. :) Sony have always been about the bottom line unfortunately but eventually they catch on.

This is an example of poor aftercare. I think its important to keep customers happy, by providing them with the basics. All I asked of them is to help me regain all the functions back. It's not like i'm asking for a new laptop. It's a shame that it had to be this way. I used to admire Sony.

lol Sony suck

I know that Samsung have released W7-specific drivers for their netbooks, it may be worth popping over to their site to see if they're also doing W7-specific drivers for their laptops as well.

What did the laptop come with? If it's Vista then you have no problem, W7 will happily use Vista drivers.

Ty installing the XP drivers under compatibility mode (ie create a shortcut to the .exe setup file, right-click it and go to the compatibility tab). It worked for my Belkin wireless card.

Your requests are unreasonable so soon after launch. Try fixing the problem yourself rather than straight out blaming a company for Microsoft's new release. If every single piece of tech ever made to interact with a computer had to have a driver refresh the day of another company's OS launch, the original manufacturer would go broke.

Windows 7 gets all the drivers for you? Have you tried windows update worked on my pc?
