Right, i have a virus on my netbook, but it wont let me access internet to download an antivirus programme. I was going to put AVG but never got round to it grrr!
How can i get it cleaned up?
On screen now says "application cannot be executed. The file npiptool.exe is infected"
Only thing i can get is a link to purchase antivirus pro for $50.
Any help will be HUGELY appreciated.

can you use usb stick/external drive to load some AV?

Now got file regsvr32.exe is infected?

Right, I have had this exact virus. Follow these steps. Restart your netbook and when restarting press F8 continuosly whilst its starting. Open in safe mode and install malwarebytes. Run it, and then shut down and restart your computer. If you need any other help, let me know.

Put this on a pendrive http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
and run it...
then re-boot your netbook

that should rid you of the malware that's blocking your internet access

cheers foxy - what a star!! just doing it. Where do i get malwarebytes from?

It may be worth pressing F8 as the pc starts and see if you can get it into safe mode with networking. From here trying getting internet access and whether you can install anything to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest malwarebytes if you can install it.

get a decent firewall in there too

your router will only protect you when you're connected to it.

assumsing you're on a router/wifi connection and not mob bb.

or just pay a few quid for something decent like kaspersky.

avast is just a virus scanner, tho still miles better than AVG, who should have Norton's old crown now.

Glad you got it sorted. Another good trick is to ensure that you have the system restore is enabled. Do this through start/control panel/system. Then you can restore the laptop to a time before you got the virus. This can be done in safe mode, using the F8 technique mentioned earlier.
#21
Ps can someone advise how to do the system restore^^
Ta x
#22
in XP?
it's in control panel under system
click on recovery / restore and it will bring up a list of retore points.
#23
Cheers for coming back!!
It happened again, i went through exactly as i did before, removed the trojans etc, but still denied internet access.
Any ideas??
I can see the system restore in control panel, but how do i activate and go back?
#24
did you run Malwarebytes and then click to remove the trojans and then RESTART the netbook?

restarting is needed to finish the removal
#25
yeah i did that.
In system, system restore,no links to restore points?
#26

Never thought I'd read Norton being voted best Anti-Virus product! Shame AntiVir has fallen so far down the list, I really liked it.

Is anyone able to give me ideas on why i can connect to internet, but cant open any web pages??? Run malwarebytes, rebooted but wont load web pages.
