help needed with my dvd drive

hello i have sony vaio laptop VGN-FS515E
my dvd drive is: SONY_DVD_RW_DWQ58A
i inserted a dual layer dvd however game me problems wen writing to it.
am i not correct my dvive is dl compatible does not say anything printed on the drive itself. (no details externally on drive).if not does anyine know where i can get a cheap dl dvd drive? thanks

but drives can be very fussy with media and speed used to burn. try a different media and start off slow and work your way up the speeds

im using clonecd software to wirite image to disk but it gives me this error:
"Writing to SONY DVD RW DW-Q58A failed! - "

does anybody know a way round it..

iv also tried burning with roxi o and gives this error:

this time i tried with img burn and it gave me this error:
Failed to set L0 Data Zone Capacity!
Reason: Write Protected

does this mean the dvd i have are not good....

it sould be a software or indeed hardware issue but i'd try different media first. some drives are just plain fussy

Its something to do with dual layer as when I tried to burn a dual layer image on imgburn it said it had an incorrect l0 table but let me burn anyway and was fine.

And it may have used the disc even though it was a failed burn so you need another.

has anybody updated a dvd firmware for a sony vaio laptop in particular with specs like mine?
