I've got an ipod touch that I bought awhile ago. It has developed a fault where it keeps going back to the main menu and stopping playing the music, it also does this while on the internet. I't really annoying and I need to get it fixed. The only problem is I cant find my receipt. Does anyone know how I can get it fixed or what to do?
Thanks for any help given.

Have you tried a restore?

You will need to save any music or files you have on there you want to keep, bookmarks etc.

Plug it in>launch iTunes>click on the iPod icon on the left hand list menu> this should bring up the iPod information/status page.

Hit the button that says restore, this will return the unit to factory restore settiings.

It appears to be a memory issue and is apparently cause by a memory overflow or buffering problem, you may find it happening more often when your doing a few things at once, you may have put a widget or something on there that it doesn't like.

I would restore and do any updates necessary just remember to save your music , let us know how you get on

Did you pay by card? A lot of places keep records going back up to a year so they might be able to look you up on the system if you can remember exactly when you bought it.

Try the Restore process recommended above, but if that fails all iPod touches came with 1 year warranty from Apple. Since these were introduced in September of last year all iPod touches are still under warranty & you won't need a receipt to get repair service from Apple.

Apple usually have a list of all their sold Hardware by serial number, so if the restore doesn't work then box it up take it to the nearest Apple store and bat your eyelashes, ignorance is bliss in Apple store the guys are usually very helpful and as TG says 12Month warranty should stand.

Right I've restored it and touch wood it hasn't done it in the last 5 mins. I'll keep it on though to see if it happens again. I have hunted for the receipt but still cant find it (although it did get me to sort my draw out so maybe thats a good thing!) I paid by card and have just found my bank statement saying that it was bought from argos in November. Hopefully you guys will have sorted the problem out for me but if not I'll try my luck with bringing it back. Thanks for all your help and I'll leave rep now.
