Help needed with restoring an unlocked & jailbroken iPhone

Hi guys, Quite a few of you seem very clued up regarding iphones so I thought I'd ask your advice.

I have a 1st gen iphone which is unlocked and jailbroken, running 2.0.

It went a bit funny on the weekend, and now whenever i turn it on there is a picture of a man saying npebea. I've googled it and apparently its Steve Jobs?

Anyway, it seems I have to restore my phone.

My question is, can I just click restore on itunes?

I am worried that because its been unlocked there might be a problem with restoring it?

Thanks in avance for any help :)

What is "Jailbroken"?

If you click restore on itunes, it will go back to factory settings. So will only work on O2.

So does that mean I would just need to unlock it again?

Or I could put an O2 sim card into it?

Thanks - rep given

sorry - yeah you should be able to put an o2 sim card straight after restoring it. All you are doing by clicking restore in itunes is loading the apple firmware back onto the iPhone. I restored mine a few times and worked a treat.

To use another network sim you'd need to unlock/jailbreak it again after restoring. But, for the 1st gen iphones this is pretty easy to do.
