Help or advice needed for DS homebrew game

Have dl'd a game, but when I try to load it on the DS it says that no .sav file found. Where can I get it, or can I make it? Never had this with all the other games in collection and my 8yr old is beside himself as he can't play it.

Thanks.

which flashcard are you using, they usually create the .sav files I think

When you start the game first time it asks if you want to create a save file - you select 'yes' and you're done.

I had a similar thought to this. Currently use DSTT with an 8GB card, but previously used a R4 with 2GB card. May need to dig out the old R4 card, as I thought these made a .sav file before.

I wish it did, but it doesn't. Maybe a trait of the DSTT card, and unlike an R4.

Oh right. I used to have a DSTT and didn't have any problems like this. Maybe a corrupted file, or is this happening on more than one?

p.s. the way the gunners have started this season, you might get a new 7-0 or 8-0 avatar sometime soon....

ive had R4 and dstt and both made a save on playing the game, maybe a diff one, delete it and download from somewhere else
#7
I also have DSTT and never had that problem. It could be that there's not enough space on the card to create the sav file?

Got it from DS Rom News, so shouldn't be corrupted.

PS: You're right. Newcastle watch out !!!!!!!

Is it possible for anyone to download the game, load it on their DS so a .sav file is created, copy the file and upload to a file sharing website where I can download it from?

THIS IS DOING MY BRAIN IN !!!!!!!!!

Why not try downloading the game again just to see if you have a corrupted copy? Do you have .sav files for other games on the card?

My experience is also that .sav files are created on first play and usually asked if you want to create one if one is not available.

Have dl'd from 3 different sites, and same problem each time. Now wondering if there is a security thing which won't allow a .sav file to be created. If anyone else manages to dl Fifa 09 and get it to work on a DS, please let me know

Make sure your Cards's firmware is the latest version.

Good point, which I'd forgotten  Fairly sure it's 1.15 already, but no harm in checking

It sounds like a bad copy of the game to me, I had this with either Cars or Nemo once.

Have you told us what the game is? If not let us know and I will see if I can get it to work.

Fifa 09

A quick update to all concerned : WAS running V1.14 when I checked, so thought it would be sensible to update to V1.15 as suggested by Mecoconuts. Unfortunately, this caused most of the other games already on the card to stop working (DOH!) However, it did try to creat the .sav file, but froze each time I re-tried. When I looked in the file of Fifa 09 it had 6 .sav files for each time I had tried, but none of them worked correctly.

So this morning I have rolled back to V1.14 and all the previous games that weren't working last night on V1.15 are working again.

Back to Fifa 08 for a while then.

Very strange that V1.15 doesn't work for you ?? I have no probs at all !

For the DSTT keep all your .NDS files in a folder called 'GAMES' on the memory card.

In the past the DSTT had issues with games that weren't in this folder.

Really ???? I use a seperate folder for each game, and until I tried to use Fifa 09, never had any issues with this way. Are you suggesting I remove each and every .nds file from its respective folder, and lump them all in one "Games" folder?? How would I know the games on card? Does it list them individually as it does now?

You have a separate folder for each game. :w00t:

It lists the games on the card in the menu.

So, instead of the current 130 odd folders for each of the games, I can have one "Games" folder and put all the .nds files in there?

Yep ....ALL '.nds' & '.sav' files go into one folder called 'GAMES'

Your problem could be a Folder Limit issue with the DSTT Card !

I've never tried it with as many folders as you have !
