I have finally taken the plunge and ordered a PS3. I went for a bare bones package on the basis that I would like to choose which titles i get. Also the PS3 is mainly going to replace the Aging Sony BDP-s300 under my TV.

So I realize that I will need a PS3 Remote (about £15 on a deal on here) and a second controller (gonna cost me about £30 looking on here again) but what games should I go for?

waiting for GT 5 (but will be checking Asda for a £5 GT5 Prolouge) and will probably get Grand Theft Auto however I need suggestions for other games (suitable to play in front of a 5 year old). Price is a big factor (haven't even told the wife i bought it yet)
Suggestions please...

Uncharted
Ratchet and Clank

2 of the best PS3 exclusives imo and you should be able to pick them up for less than £15 each.

Here are all PS3 games, sorted by Metacritic Score:

http://www.metacritic.com/games/ps3/scores/

I would personally recommend:

PS3 Exclusives:
Uncharted (plus Uncharted 2, due out soon)
Ratchet & Clank
Little Big Planet
Killzone 2
Infamous
Motorstorm
Motorstorm Pacific Drift

Valkyria Chronicles
Also Demon Souls looks awesome - due for European release next month

Multi-Platform:
The usual suspects - Batman, COD, Fallout, Burnout Paradise, GRID, , Deadspace, Battlefield BC, GTA etc etc....

PSN Games:
Battlefield 1943
Pixel Junk Monsters/Encore
Shatter
Fists of Plastic

Super Stardust HD
Riff: Everyday Shooter

Loco Roco
Flower
Wipeout HD

Bionic Commando Rearmed
Crash Commando

I have bolded the ones I would be happy to play with my kids in the room................(mine are 4 and 6)

Get yourself a £20 PSN card from Zavii for £15.95 - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/476927/psn-playstation-network-card-20-for/?page=5 and you should be able to pick up 3/4 decent PSN titles

Little Big Planet can be had for a tenner - Motorstorm for a fiver preowned at GAME, or the sequel for about 15 notes. Ratchet and Clank you should be able to pick up for around a tenner too.

Hmmm, that really narrows down your options. The majority of the PS3s best games are more adult themed.

I really liked Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, I'm not sure why actually looking back on it - as it has some terrible flaws. Just has got something good going for it I guess. Bear in mind (I think) I recall it having the occassional swear word in the cut scenes and involves alot of killing - the most offensive thing about the game is the A.I. tbh.

LittleBIGPlanet, 'nuff said. Just be careful that the said five year old doesn't take over your PS3!

Killzone 2, fabulous game, again it has lots of swearing and violence so maybe one for when no-ones around.

I personally love all the Guitar Hero/Rock Band games, they have any swearing edited out so should be ok.

Singstar games - good fun.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is terrific - if too short imo. I think it has some swearing in it, and is rather scary for a youngster. A must buy once it's cheaper for you

The Motorstorm games.

PES (if you're after a proper football game)
