Afternoon everyone

once again i ask all of you bill gates out there for some help.

Internet Browser:

Ive had firefox on my comp for about a year now, and never had a problem with it. Until about a week ago, i open it up and after about 5 minutes it'll freeze and come up with that error message (send error report/don't send error report) and it closes the window. If i click to go back onto the browser, it'll say 'restore' or 'new session'. If i restore it takes about 2 minutes for it to do it again.

Ive unistalled it about 3 times, i uninstalled explorer 7 awhile back because i didn't think i'd need it. Ive had a look on google for help but i cant understand what half of them are telling you, so if anyone has any ideas or its happened to them before i'd be grateful for any help.

Cheers

Hi DeadDuck

ok firstly I would recomend putting IE7 back on from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx

install it and keep it.

As much as you dont think you need it, you cant technically uninstall IE as it part and parcel of windows anyways.

IE7 is just as good as firefox now and is nice and secure too.

As for your firefox problem are there any particular pages it likes to crash on? or is it random?

Get previous version of working FF install prog.

UNinstall FF and this folder C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

Do spyware and malware clean.

Registry clean use tools from majorgeeks.com or a prog I use called TuneupUtils 2007, trial version is fine use the 1 click maintenance from that.

Re-install FF.

Have you added any plugins or extensions recently?
Try going in firefox in safe mode, and deleting the cache & cookies, and remove any plugins or extension you recently installed .
Close it & then try firfox in normal mode again.

Safe mode should be in your programs list, or goto START, RUN and type in firefox.exe -safe-mode
and click OK.

Or you could try installing Firefox portable

Sounds like you are re-running the installer, if the icon is saying IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.

Just to check, goto START, Programs and if the internet explorer icon is there click on to see if it is installed. If it is, delete the one on your desktop and just make a new shortcut to Internet Explorer on your desktop.

yeah thats what it saves as on my desktop.

ive looked on start and my programs list and its nowhere to be found :(

See you can create a new shortcut.
Right click on the desktop and select new shortcut
then browse to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe
select it and click OK then finish

If it's not there then it may be the installer is corrupt, or you need to disable any antivirus or firewall while you install it.

right i did that, what exactly do you mean by browse?

i double clicked the new shortcut, and then it does the same as the first one: extracting all files, then goes back to the beginning of the installation.

thanks

Should have asked earlier, which version of windows is it running?
Browse...
When you right click and select create, new shortcut a box will pop up, just below it will say "type the location of the item:"
Its more than likely C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe
Then click next & finish

Or try to locate it by going to START, SEARCH and look for all files and folder and type in iexplorer.exe, select look in all files and folders and click on search
Then type that location in the browse box & click next and finish

Then right click on the new icon on the desktop , select properties and in Target it should say "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"
Then you know it is installed.

If it isn't, I would delete any of the shortcuts and re-download the installer.
