Help Please! Trying to set up wifi internet on the Wii.

Hi guys, I am stuck, trying to set up the wii for online gaming. I have a wireless set up with a router but when I choose the on screen option on the wii to connect to it it brings up an error code 52031. I have checked on the Nintendo support website and my Belkin router is not on the list of compatible routers, does this mean there is no way I will be able to set up the wireless connection?

Rep will be left for all advice given.

Are you entering your encryption key on the Wii.
Or does your router have mac address filtering switched on?
#2
I didn't enter an encryption key, I had to type in my wireless connection password, just checked and my mac address filtering is disabled.
#3
Is your router setup for static or dynamic ip addressing, dhcp server on or off?
#4
Its on static, the DHCP server is on.

If the dhcp server is on all your pc's consoles etc should be set to automatic not static

well on the options for "key provisioning" it has "static" checked, should I select "dynamic" instead? On the DNS settings page it already says "automatic from ISP".

Dns and dhcp are two seperate things on the router
Would prob have DHCP on automatic ticked, and all your devices will be assigned ip adresses from the router.
Thats the easiest way, but I prefer using static addressing as you can define ip addresses for every device on your network.

Dhcp should really be automatic as your wii is probably set the now to automatic , ie it will get its address from the router.
Prob why you cant connect as your router at the moment is set to static addressing,ie dhcp switched off

Hope that makes sense lol.

thanks, bit of a long story. I went on the belkin page to update my firmware, managed to upset the connection so I couldn't connect, rang up belkin technical support to reset it and now it wont let me put a password on my connection, but I have now updated the firmware and the wii has connected. But now my connection is unsecure.

Can you not login to the router and switch on the wireless encryption?
Other option is to just use mac address filtering on the router ;)

Managed to sort it, had to clear internet files and try again and everything worked fine, thanks for the advice, rep left.
