I have a Dell 19" TFT Monitor which has vga / dvi connectors and I wanted to know if it was possible to connect my cable box to it. The cable box has SCART and s-video outputs.

Also is it possible to setup a system whereby the cable box is in the living room and monitor is in my room and to control the channels from my room on the tft monitor?

I appreciate any help on this

You get products called video senders which basically allows you to watch your cable/sky whatever if the box is in one room and the monitor/tv is in the other.

Yes, what you need is a wing and prayer..lol :w00t:

You'll be needing a converter cable like this one on fleabay...it wont let me put the link so go to fleabay and search for Scart to VGA and you'll see the cables.

A SCART to Component (RGB) adapter and then a component to VGA converter (or more expensive upscaler if you want it to look better) would work provided your Cable box can provide component through SCART.

A specialised forum like www.avforums.com is the best place to ask if you want to know the best way to do it though.

EDIT: If you're going to buy from ebay then be certain what you're getting is what you need as you tend to get all sorts of stuff like cables with two different connectors that don't do the required signal conversion (and are cheaper as a result).
