Help! Printer problem?

I've got a HP photosmart C4500 series printer. Every time I reboot the printer or laptop it loses the connection to the printer. If I go to print something the job just gets queued as the printer is 'offline' & the only way I've been able to get the printer back online is by reinstalling the software which involves temporarily connecting by USB. This is a pain in the backside so before I take it back to Tesco does anyone know if I'm missing something obvious?
Rep for any help given...

you should be able to right click the printer and select use online, no need to reinstall it every time

Are you saying your printer is a wireless one, if so then your printer must be passing through your router, thus make sure it is set up with your router`s/wireless password etc

Call 020 7949 0300 and ask for Photosmart/all in one printer support, they will take you step by step through the correct setup.

When I right click, the 'connect' option is shaded.

It is wireless, & its connected to the router ok (on the printer it says signal strength excellent).

Check your manual you may have to open a port in the router etc as routers have built in firewalls

Is there a network?

Reinstalled software, still didn't work, downloaded printer & network diagnostics, still didn't work.
Switched printer off & on again, now it works....
