The money went back into my acc after it got reversed, would the buyer be able to reverse? i thought only the bank could reserve the payment if needed.

No. What about the other money in the account or direct debits to service ?

Phone the bank again tomorrow.

it can be reversed, there really isnt a safe way to deal with people you dont know other than cash in hand, postal order

if the rules aint changed (check google) i was always told bacs can be reversed up to 24 hours after the payment was sent, this has to be requested by the sender and can only be done for certain reasons

Yes, that's the case as far as I'm aware. A quick call to the bank tomorrow should give you all the comfort you need.

I had this happen with a cheque from a member of the family gave me when the money went in, out and in again. The bank said it was a glitch in their system and that there was no problem, and they wrote off £5 interest they had automatically charged me due to the money going out when it shouldn't have.
