You need to know your television manufacturer and model, if you post it here I'll look up the code on my Sky+

You can get the code from the sky menu to set up the new remote.
In the settings menu, you need your tv and model number and then you input a code
( he tries hard to remember which section it is in........... )

I would disconnect box and start again.
The basic functions of the Sky remote should work with box.
To be more advanced you can program your remote based on your TV model, this is done by looking up a code on Sky interactive..
Maybe also cahnge the batteries.

The question is asking to link it to the box not the TV

You need to go to Interactive button (Top row last button), then Customer services (option 5) then option "set my remote "" (or something like that)
You need a specific code that relates to your TV and then input this number when prompted, it should then work all the controls.
(sorry if it seems a bit vague but I am at work so can't see my TV screen for exact terminology)

You still need then tv make and model number to link the remote to the box.....
I did it not long ago but just cannot remember the exact menu it's in...

if it's a new replacement remote does it not tell you in the instructions?

i have 2 sky boxes, both different models, and neither seem compatible with each other

I think you hold down the SKY button and press the SELECT button for a couple of seconds.

Box could be locked up. Try switching it off and back on. Give it a couple of minutes to boot up when switching on.

It needs linking to the tv. for the box to respond.

If the remote isn't working then you cannot access the codes in the interactive menu.

If you know the code then you cover the end of the remote with your hand and press the "TV" button, hold "select" and the "red" interactive button ( not the off button) down together for a couple of seconds until the remote light blinks twice, then input your code and finally press the "sky" button.
Then try seeing if it works.

Obviously you need the code first.

the OP is saying the remote won't work with the SKY box not the TV!!

You don't need to link it to the TV first - How does the remote still work if you lose TV settings (after batteries have been removed for more than 10 mins etc?)
