You need access to the BIS service, call your service provider to add the 'bolt on' to your account

on the top right hand of your mobile is there small letters for the connection type - (gprs or edge) or capital letters (GPRS or EDGE)?
Small letters I think mean when your data services are off and capital is when they are connected to a data service.
If they are small letters maybe you should contact your mobile network providor and make sure they have switched on the Blackberry Service.

If you only got the mobile today you may have to wait up to 24 hours for the service to turn on, I have 2 blackberry's and friends with blackberrys also had to wait up to 24 hours for this service to be switched on.

Is it a sim free phone or one form your network ?

If its sim free (or from another network) you need the setting for internet/mms/wap ect for it. You network should be able to text them to the handset.

Have you got data services switched on? If you go onto your menu and into 'Manage Connections' there is an option to switch data services on and off. This might be the problem.

If you've already solved the problem then ignore me lol, but I remember this being a problem with mine when I first got it!

May be worth forcing off the network and back on again...

Goto Settings> Mobile Network.
Change the Network Selection Mode to Manual. Allow BB to scan for networks and choose a diiferent provider. NOT your own.
You may get a message saying emergency calls only..say yes. Once selected, you should now see SOS in red at the top right.
Scan for available networks again and now select your own provider. Hopefully, this may bring back GPRS/EDGE.
Ensure to change the network selection mode back to Automatic and save the changes upon exiting.

If that fails, may be worth doing a hard reset.
Just pull the battery out without switching off, give it 10 secs then put back in.

Hope this helps!
