had my phone stolen from work yesterday, realised this morning and blocked the sim. the b@*****s were foreigners and they have phoned abroad all night leaving me with a whopping bill to pay=[
i reported it to the police, got a crime no and have proof that they stole it.

its on orange and i have never rang abroad before yet they didnt seem to realise (or care) that my phone was ringing pakistan all night. Do phone networks have a policy of blocking irregular calls? orange didnt block mine and i feel that they should have realised that it wasnt me ringing. anyone had similar problems...?

Will i still have to pay the phone bill? can i get my money back + comp etc

thanksss 4 helpin

it would make sense that uk mobile phone companies block all calls outside uk unless arranged first, to stop this happening.

I had the same thing happen to me, except they dialed that TV show where you guess the names (or something similar) that's on from midnight till 6am.
I had a bill for over £350 and they made me pay it and there was no way I could reclaim it.

IF YOU DONT MAKE INTERNATIONAL CALLS put a call barr on it, or check with your network the status of international calls on you phone.

It works both ways though,if they block international calls and it turns out you wanted to get a hold of someone abroad, say a relative had died then they'd no doubt be slagged off for that too.

I think they are right to leave it to the individual. There is an option that allows you to bock international calls yourself.

Hope they see sense though and you don't have to suffer for it.

you can have a bar put on if ur bill goes over say £80 you then got to phone them to raise the limit

Does your home insurance not cover the phone? I know mine does, not sure about related expenses incurred though?

yeah i thought i could have a bar,but orange wouldnt let me:@

Why would you want compensation, wouldn't you just be happy with getting it all sorted?

I think some if, you report within 24 hours you won't be charged.

yeah id be happy with it all sorted. im very stressed all becuase of some foreigner who is probably scrounging off the government anyway and is now taking advantage of decent hard working people

I use Pay-as-you-Go, much safer - and better value.

I know you are upset.. but uve bought out an interesting thing... Foreigners arent allowed any benefits under Uk law, so I dont think it would be justified to say that. No council house, no unemployment benefits, no disability benefits etc. Infact if foreigners dont show economic activity (as in job, income, business or mortgage etc), they are forced to go back to their home country :)

....unless they claim asylum... which is a whole different ball game!!

I would say if you report it within 24hrs you should be fine,

with a credit card you don't have to pay for any transactions made AFTER you report it stolen. If the companies any good they'll swallow the cost and sort it out themselves. You'd need to push it though. Don't accept the words of the call centre droids go higher.

btw: no offense to call centre workers but you are droids when at work since you're so limited in what you're actually allowed to do for the cstomer!
