Net Intelliegence (software by Comet iirc), wont allow me to access Gumtree, Ebay etc as it classed as a Adult Site.

Anyone help me install this with a unknown password protection? Many Thanks in advance.

How do you know that? He might be researching how to run a business on ebay, or buying text books etc.

slackrat77,

No doubt your parents claimed child benefit for you. Stop being so subjective on a members personal situation and being picky with certain benefits. Completely unjustified personal attack.

What concern of yours is it if I wish to uninstall some unwanted software pre-installed on the laptop

I use it for my children's learning if you must know and purchase books etc from ebay, and others sites which are blocked/classified as "Adult" (no, not porn before you say anything)

I came on here to seek helpful advise, not to be got at by you. Thanks to all sensible replies so far. Much appreicated.

Does anyone have a contact number please? I take it i need to contact Comet?

does anyone know that the username should be/start with?

The password "cometpar" is used quite frequently amongst Comet staff. Furthermore, you may be able to obtain an uninstall password by accessing the account within NetIntelligence's site with the username "parent" and password "cometpar".

If all this fails then you can bypass NetIntelligence by using IPv6 but of course, not all websites are IPv6 enabled.

It's whatever you setup when you signed took out original agreement first couple of letter you sent off.

you'll have to forgive my somewhat cynical nature towards this scheme.

my dads best mate owns a second hand shop and has lost count of the amount of Home Access laptops he's been offered in the past few months. Selling due to them having a better laptop or computer already.

plus working for Dixons in a little redneck town, as I do, I've seen countless people coming in swearing that Currys was on the list of suppliers, calling us names when we say we're not and that its Comet, having to prove to them that Comet and Currys are not 'the same thing' (even tho am sure they are far too similar!)
the complaining when the person might have to venture 6 or 7 miles out of town to a Comet as its the nearest one.
having to turn people away when they ask if we can help them get rid of the 'blocking software' cos either they or the kids can't access facebook or use MSN, because its not from Currys, its from Comet.
the complaining about the lack of options and spec on the provided computers, despite the fact they are FREE! Even had the urge to punch one bloke who said Comet were 'Ripping him off'.

Spent a good 40 mins with a woman who said she had £518 (I shoulda figured but I had no idea it was even that much money!) to spend on a laptop, software and a mobile broadband only to find out it was a home access grant and she didnt realise that Currys isnt Comet.

its not the government scheme that I disapprove of, its seeing first hand the total ungreatfulness of the people in my home town who had been awarded a computer that I'd helped pay for, that probably get more money than me per week/month etc, when I had to pay for my own computer, no one was buying me one, or giving me a laptop for free.

So as I said, you'll have to forgive my cynical comments, I do apologise and sincerely hope you ARE using the computer for its intended purpose.
