plenty of buses leave the airport....not sure if you can book before hand as we didnt we just got a bus when we got there...sometimes the bigger hotels have buses that run to and from the airport

So...would you advise not to book anything until we get there and see where the transport is leaving from etc?

When i've travelled into charles de gaulle i've found these people really good, www.parishuttle.com/ or used the train if not travelling to late in the day.
be really careful about getting a taxi at the airport because there are a lot of unlicenced ones hawking for business at the airport.

the airport shuttle is very reasonable, you will share an 8 seater minibus with other travellers who have also prebooked to be taken to a hotel in your area.

Brilliant. Thank you.
When you have a second, can you just confirm what I think...
We are staying at Porte De Versailles...is that still in Zone 2 of the metro?!

buy a carte orange, its the cheapest way to travel - lasts from Monday to Monday but you can buy any day apart from a Thurday (for some strange reason) - it will work out cheaper to have one of these than two single to and from airport trains, you have to take a passport size photo with you and can buy as soon as you land at the RER or train station - not a lot of visitors know this all the parisiens use the carte orange dont buy the visite pass far too expensive
