I often think black and white looks better on a canvas because it doesn't clash with anything, too many colours in a pic can often get lost in a room

Yes, it is possible. There are companies out there who will do it for a pricey sum, but you can do it yourself if you know how. But I'm guessing that you don't know how, which is why you are asking. The image isn't showing by the way so It's hard for me to tell properly. I do this sort of thing frelance and use a propramme called Photoshop CS3.
What size do you want the canvas print?

you have 2 little angels there kels - im sure some clever techie on here would be able to take backgound out to give a professional look - and yes it would look brilliant in black & white:thumbsup:

I did want a big canvas - something like 30 x 20 but don't know if the picture will look ok if stretched that much , and I don't know how to remove background
#11
What Background would you want ? Black, White or something else ?
#12

You will need the original pic to be about 300 dpi (dots per inch) and about 30 X 20

You could stylize the photo so it looks decent blown up, but keeping the photo as is will look pixelated and stretched at that size! having a black background will also make it look a little strange so your best bet would be stylizing it somehow :]

Hmm, for it to not lose any resolutionabout the size of the image itself I'm afraid. Was the pic taken on a mobile phone as most bog standard digital cameras are at least 5 MP these days which would mean an A3 size print would look fine. I'm off out now, but will be back in a few hours.

if you used something like the following, you could print it on whatever size canvas you wanted without it looking pixelated and stretched =]

I know you like this pic cant you get their pic dont professionally (one of the deals £4.99 or free first pic) and then scan and blow it up? it would be better quality?

daughter had the grandchildren done and they are black and white with colour added -venture did it-i think thats what you are trying to achieve?

Well, the last one was just showing you that if you change it to something more stylized you could print bigger, I wouldn't go for that exact one unles you really liked it, was just a quicky to show you an example!
#32
