I'm starting up a new IT business which will save existing businesses and new start ups alot of money on their IT set up costs.

i just need some help with advertising, my budget would be £500. i have a website in place already so i guess that is a good start.

any ideas or questions are most welcome.

thank you for your help in advance

you've identified your target market (startups) so next best step would be to think logically on where/how you can most effectively target these people.

I'd speak to my local development agency/ business link. Offer to present or run IT sessions that will help start ups.

Think about job centres etc - how can you attract people that maybe thinking about starting up...

oh - and you'll need professional cards/ stationery etc. so you look credible. Sign up for Vistaprint. A few hundred should get you some decent materials (letter head, cards, folders etc)

Local press may be a good place to go as well. Why not speak to the business editor. Ask if they are interested in doing a feature on startups in the current climate. You can offer practical advice and publicise your business as a kind of advertorial. They get an "expert" view, you get free publicity.

All in all, I'd suggest that these would be more effective things to do that leaflet or posters (untargeted). The previous post made a good point about adwords. Google have some good materials on how to run an adword campaign (to link to your website). Key thing there would be identifying the right keywords for your target audience.

Hope this helps...

lol you may have just done your first bit of advertising .... to me :)

What sort of Virtualisation technologies do you deal with? I am looking at evaluating VMWare and Virtual Iron at the moment and could do with being in contact with a company that knows about Virtual Iron.

Contact me on darrenjmccabe (at) gmail (dot) com if this is something you deal with?

Hey..

I emailed you a while back - however it would be great if you could let me know what you want to do exactly.

if you want to deliver applications to users then i can help you with a complete solution.

if however you wish to virtualise servers then i'd reconnmend VM Ware as the product is more complete and not really buggy.

however like i said, let me know what you want to achieve and i'll help you accordingly.

Cheers
