My suggestion would be to write why you applied to become a magistrate!!!!! You must have had a reason for doing so.

'its a way for you to be able to perform an important role and to give something back to the community that you are part of'

If you can't fill the page up then maybe you are not suitable ?

Have to agree with that statement.

if you have to ask anonymous members of a shopping forum for spurious reasons as to why you want to take up this role, then i don't think you're suitable to be a magistrate.

wouldn't want you to consider the case against perhaps a child of mine, wrongly accused of (for example) stealing an apple, when your thoughts are clearly revolving around the latest Dell Mini deal from MikeT.

you gotta admit though... it is a good deal :)

I'm being facetious, you're totally right :)

Think the OP was just looking for pointers but yes OP you wanna take on magisterial responsibilities you're gonna have to take responsibility for the application process also.

Good luck with it :) xx

if you spell like that on your form i suspect you may be unsuccessful.

if you're truly interested, why not ask to visit your local courts and speak to some magistrates to see what the role entails.

it's an extremely responsible role and to just say you want to help people and it looks interesting is just scratching the surface of what it is all about.

speak to some magistrates and get their opinions and advice.

so you have the form to fill in but dont know what to put in the box asking why you want to do it?

think you should maybe step away from the form and forget about the whole shebang if you cant think of this yourself....................

Personal qualities
You don't need formal qualifications or legal training to become a magistrate.

However, you will need to be able to demonstrate six key personal qualities:

good character
understanding and communication
social awareness
maturity and sound temperament
sound judgement
commitment and reliability

from the gov website.

I'm thinking there are more than one shortfalls here.
