Help with ebay item sold please.......

Just sold a V smile pocket which i had bought from here. it's the older model and show some signs of wear so stuck it on a buy it now a 10 plus 5 postage with toy story 2 which usually sells for 7 alone.

Works fine. Picture taken as i was listing it showing a bright display.

It's been bought by a business on ebay (within minutes of listing) who deals in vtech and leapfrog consoles. She has emailed to say she is dissappointed as it's not very bright and the contrast doesnt work.

It worked fine when it was listed and my little boy played with it fine.

I think she's trying it on as she was hoping to be able to sell it on at a decent profit.

I listed it as used working condition which it is.

Can she claim from me even though it works fine? When compared with the newer models the screen isn't as bright but i guess that just because it's the older model? It's certainly not dull.....

Worried she's going to be funny. I'd presumed someone would buy it for their child and it would be fine as it was for mine.

Thanks

I guess i didnt think people 'dealt' in just second hand kids consoles? I haven't seen many to compare it but obviously they have.....

Can they claim? Or just leave neg feedback?

Thanks

offer to refund if they send back - I bet they don't

if you feel that it is as described then tell them so, that it is in good used condition as described. do you have a returns policy? I dont think you have to take it back unless it is significatly not as described, and as it is working ok in good order, not as bright as she expected but still. You could say that you will refund the cost she paid but not the postage? as the item was as described and see what she says

there is the risk that they will leave neg feedback just to be twisted, but you might be able to get it removed by ebay if you feel it was unfair

I just described it as used working which it is. I don't have a returns policy.........

Would offering a goodwill geasture be seen as agreeing there is something wrong with it? (which i know their isn't)

Thanks

does it even have a contrast facility? looks fine to me. tell them to return at their cost for refund of item value only (incl toy story)

It does have a contrast dial which worked fine but you only have to adjust it if it gets knocked etc.

Don't offer anything or else they could say that you are admitting that there was something wrong with it. You sold it as used and working which is what it is. So long as you know that you are telling the truth don't let them bully you

+1 tell them that there is a button on it that adjusts the brightness of it and that it was sold in good but used working order, and it might have been the flash in the camera that caused the pic to be really bright and that if there was any questions they should have been asked before bidding, I wouldnt refund her the postage costs though, as it leaves you out of pocket and might be admitting that there was something wrong, only refund the amount she paid for the console, and dont forget to cancel the transaction through ebay, so that you dont lose money on the final value fees:thumbsup: and dont refund until you get it back, you should also remind her to send it recorded just incase

for paypal the item needs to be significantly not as described (ie nnot working or badly scratched) and I personally dont think that this would qualify, as it is based purely on her opinion that it is not that bright

Thanks!!

Picture taken with my iphone so not with a flash so it must be fairly bright!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Still saying it's DULL and demanding a refund. Gone with the advice of offering it minus postage. :-(

just tell them to send it back recorded delivery and you refund minus postage after you have recived it back, they may be trying it on for a partial refund and to keep the item
#15
yeah say you'll take it back, if there is nothing wrong with it that will be excluding postage.

Mind you, if they complain to ebay, they will be refunded everything inc postage.
#16
They have just complained to ebay!!!!!! Take it that means they will get the postage back???

How is that fair when the item is fine just not the cash cow the dealer was hoping for!?!?!?
#17
Will ebay definately side with the buyer even though they are a dealer etc???
#18
Make sure it's the same one you sold them that they send back.

If it's the same one you pictured on an earlier post, take note of the scratches on it from your image when you get it back so you can make sure.

Some people will buy one, say its defective, and send their broken one back to you.
#19
Thanks. So annoyed that she doesn't even want the item just wanted to make a profit from it and now it's me set to loose.

no, I dont think so.

I though ebay always side the the buyer??

This lady is on to a right winner. buy the consoles cheap. resell the better ones and bully the other people into taking returns at their own cost.

win win.....

we have already told you that you dont refund P&P and buyer must pay return P&P so you only lose out on the final sale / listing fee
#23
And the P&P to send it. She want's a refund to include cost plus P&P of sale.

So it will cost me £2.84 p&P plus fees :-(

She will also presumably stand the cost of the return lot of P&P.
#24
Is it an Ebay dispute or a Paypal one ?
#25
Ebay dispute.

I don't really understand the difference though. I've only ever ahd to do one pay pal dispute when i was sold some mini digital albums that gave my comupter a virus......

tell her to get lost as I do believe you only have to refund the item cost and buyer returns at their cost.

ok, my mistake, you hav to refund the original P&P. Cant see how anyone would benefit by taking items on a trial basis as you describe as they still have to return at their expense.

Thanks ;-)

I understand why they have these policies but think they are too open to abuse.
