was selling a dell inspiron 2650 on gumtree. A student txt me a wanted to know what was the lowest i would take for it. i said £100. they said too much. We came to an agreement over the phone via txts that she would send me her phone a galaxy euphrrio or something worth she said 135 but looked it up only worth tops 80. she also sent £30 cash. I got the phone and stuff, then i sent her the laptop along with a wireless dongel all working 100%. Now two days later her boyfriend started txting me say the laptop was no good and wanted the phone and money back i said no because the laptop was working ok when i had it. Then the next day he txt me agaain saying if i didnt refund her he would be taken me to court, He has my address but no name. The laptop was in working order 100%. What is the deal with this kind of thing, I think he hasn't a leg to stand on as it was a clean swap, and anyway i sold on the phone for a loss just got £60 for it ,so she got a laptop valued at £110 for £90 can i expect any fallout from this

Private sell so no comeback in any case

He has more chance of urinating in the wind and him not getting any splash back than pursuing this. If you are 100% your laptop was working and as per your description plus you have no guilty conscience I wouldn't worry about it. They probably have just had a change of heart or was expecting something a lot more for the swap

One thing I would be concerned about is if they report the phone as lost though. If they get the phone barred I guess the best you could do is report that your dongle was 'lost' too.

I was selling a working LCD tv a little while ago for £20 on nearest offer and the amount people I had asking if it was HD ready and had HDMI was laughable.

He can't do anything and if he does just tell him that the only court he will see will be the magistrates for himself, even if it is just for threatening behaviour
