help with holiday insurance please! Volcanic Ash!

We have a family holiday booked in july to Turkey, through 'Going on Holiday', and the flights are with Thomas Cook. If the flights were cancelled with the volcanic ash, would we get all our money back? For accomodation as well??
I have yet to buy travel insurance, but if I do does anyone know of a travel insurer that covers this??
Help! I cannot afford to lose all our money and have nothing to show for it!

If you bought the accommodation and flights seperately, then you will get the flight money back. The accommodation cost may be refunded however this is down to the individual company as 'force majuere' incidents sometimes dont have a refund clause.

Most travel insurers compensate for volcanic ash so get it now!

What did 'Going on Holiday' and Thomas Cook say when you asked them the question?
I would assume that they would be more in a position to answer than a deals forum.

most travel insurers DONT cover for volcanic ash as it is "natural" and "an act of god", the flight company will however refund your outbound flight and if the inbound flight does not go ahead that will be refunded too. as for accommodation as mhh1981 says that is down to the individual hotel and its policies, would still say your best bet is to contact the person you booked it with

(both my mum/dad and sister and her family have been stuck in this situation over the past few weeks and my friend works in thomas cook so has been dealing with it all)
