Looking at buying a Dell Inspiron 15 with these specs:
Intel® Celeron Dual Core T3000 (1.80 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 Cache)
15.6" Widescreen WXGA WLED (1366 x 768) TFT Display with TrueLife
4096MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x2048]
160GB (5,400rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive
256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330
DVD +/- RW Drive
6-cell battery
1yr accidental damage
£476.77

Anybody suggest any alternatives? Or is this a pretty good deal?

Its going to be used for internet, and a few games etc.

i know you can get cheaper ones, but im really after one with a graphics card, the bigger battery is handy, as is the 4gb of ram.

is hers the 6cell? and does she remove it when its plugged in to the mains?
4gb will show in vista with the latest update or with 64bit, and then windows 7 upgrade anyways which will show it

Really bad deal. Should be able to get a Core 2 Duo cheaper.

with the extras it worked out at £536, so £60 more for the processor...which i think its not too bad.

whoops sorry, hers is the 4 cell i think, with dell you are able to turn off charging when plugged in, which she does, it is charged over night, and used then battery is turned off

£15 to change to a 6 cell, I'd get the laptop I linked to.

i thought the T3000 used the same Penryn core as some C2D do now anyways?
What sort of difference do you think the C2D will make?
Im trying to find some comparasions but failing atm!

Not sure but it's still a fair bit cheaper. I gave up following CPU's as they made so many different varieties.

sorry maybe im being stupid but the C2D option you posted worked out £60 more then the T3000 option i posted? So its more, otherwise id happily go for the C2D!

Assume you're going to use 64bit os otherwise .75GB of your 4GB would be unused, personally would up the HD to 250/320 but I tend to download a lot of TV/Movies.

I'm actually in a similar situation can't decide between a 1545 and a Latitude E6400 though... HDMI on the 1545 is swinging it for me atm

Yeah thus 64bit. not bothered with HDD really as its actually for the girlfriend, thus doesnt need to be huge.

dcx_badass;6341924
£413.99 for me. With the 6 cell battery.

let me check again

The same extras as i had on my OP

Ah k.

but then could take off the 1year accidental damage and the colour which would pay for the better processor!

Rep left, cheers for that link.

do anything, sell your body if you have to. don't get a celeron. go with an older pentium dual core if you have to.

yeah id prefer that as well, but those celerons do use the same penyrn's as the C2D, however id always prefer to have a C2D!

Been looking on the business site of dell to see if that could be an option
