Hi.
I have an xbox 360 here that i bought last year to repair (the idea was to repair then buy all the leads etc and then end up with a cheap console.)
Anyway i ahve a few questions, people on here seem to ask whether the xbox has been opened? Has the warranty sticker been damaged? I bought this second hand (as damaged) and am just wondering where that said sticker may be.I don't see one.
Also when i bought it they said it would play dvds and not games, i thought that meant it had the RROD am i right??
Also the manufacture date of the console is 28-10-2006 and i have seen on here that they are covered for this problem by Microsoft.....

Any help appreciated, i am finally going to do something with this console..... Either sell as is or repair.

Thanks.

The warranty seal is behind the front face plate ...

Also if the box is rrod and NOT been registered yet, Microsoft will fix it for you....If it has bben registered and your not the original owner then you'll have to fix it..

if you haven't registered it with MS it will still be registered to the prev owner which means they would repair it for you :)

Try to register it in your name. It will stop you if the serial number has already been used.

Try and register it at xbox.com..

Register free silver live account ... then under profile you have a "Registration and repair" click that then click "register a console"... see if it lets you add it...

Just re-read your first post ... and rrod doesnt mean it doesnt play games... rrod is when you turn your console on it has 3 red lights on the front....your problem if its not reading games is the dvd drive is knackered ...in my opinion anyway...

i have heard many people out there have sent their x box back many times to be repaired, it seems to me microsoft have done the usual thing they always seem to do, rush things out to beat the opposition, my mate sent back three consoles, all were replaced, but why should any console need repairing when its so young? i got a ps3 and i put yellow dog linux on it, ( its made for ps3's ) then i put all the emulators on it, i now can play any game for any consul inc pc, i think i'll stick with that, lot cheaper.

a 360 that reads DVD videos but not GAMES has usually had a BAD FLASH attempt done and the key is lost...

Without that, it's a brick. So your best bet is to try to get it registered, and lie about the 3 redlights, hoping that they fix or replace it.

They will probably just send it back unfixed though.

Ok ty for your help everyone. I'm stuck in a rut now. As im not sure whats the matter with it. My idea was to try it out with the leads a friend has for the elite but just my luck they don't work...- the power adaptor is slightly the wrong shape. For me to find out im going to have to buy all the leads....hmmmmm. I think i'll just sell it on as a project...lol... As it seems it could be a number of things. Thanks ppl...
