Hi there are several ways to fix this prob!

Boot in safe mode click on start type cmd, in the black box type chkdsk or chkdsk /p

if you cant boot into widows via safe mode, Insert your widows Cd let it run through, and on xp you push f3 that will bring up command prompt type in chkdsk or chkdsk /p then enter...

on Vista click on fix my computer then you will see comand prompt, and type in the same..

If this fails depending on what operating system you are useing xp you can reinstall on top of you old windows, loosing nothing

or on vista you will have to reinstall!!! but keep all old files it will transfer these to a folder called windows old, On your c:drive

Hope you have backed up !!!!!

Hi, Mark is right, you need to do a repair install

It's quite tricky and very hard to explain, check out this for step by step info.

Cheers.

Before you try to fix anything you need to find out what the problem is.
The system event logs will tell you why the system crashed and if it is hardware or software related.

If it is hardware, reinstalling windows will not cure the problem.

Blue screen (aka Blue Screen Of Death) can mean serious Software issue or Hardware failure. So you either need to reinstall windows from scratch or start running hardware tests. Have you got any idea what the error message says on the blue screen when it flashes up?

If you cannot get into safe mode then in my experience there is a better than average chance that it's a hardware problem and its most likely your hard drive.

Open up the side of your computer and check the manufacturer of the hard drive, then go here http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287 and download the appropriate ISO hard drive test and burn an 'image' disc with Nero. Then you boot of that disc and run the test, this will tell you if your hard drive is the culprit.
