Hello all, my son is looking to get a bike to travel to work on, we know there are road bikes, hybrids and mountain bikes all designed for specific uses. What he wants to know is, is there a mountain bike worth up to £600 that will be as good on the road as well as off?
thanks in advance

I have an American made mountain bike that is light and the tyres are road in the middle and knobbly on the sides and designed for both road and dirt. Bought it for £650 from a Rayleigh Bikeshop its called a Corretec X-Vert. Nice bike and they start from about £250 - £21k...Google it...Good Luck

If you don't need it new type custom in ebay & look through the bikes, you can pick up some real bargains.
My mate picked up a mint condition Kona Stinky with loads of upgraded components for
£500

If you going to use it on the road often then remember to get some hybrid tyres for on/off road use, knobbly off road tyres will be a b1tch on the road all the time.

He should buy some Halo Twin rails if he wants to use his bike on & off road.
