I have bought a R4 for the Mrs for her new DS Lite. And need some help please.

I have bought two Scandisk Micros sd (Both 2gb each) to put games onto one and brain/puzzle stuff on the other one.
I have put the software onto the root directory. (i didn't format the memory card but it still went on. Should i have formatted it?)
Made a new folder called NDS Games and put the NDS games into that folder.

* Firstly when i turn the DS on it loads up the R4 and has three options. I click the games option. Should the list of games just be listed on there? (Mine goes around the houses and not directly on there.
Can you turn on DS lite and go straight to list of games?

* Secondly should I have formated the memory card

* Thirdly On 1 of the memory cards i have 25 games and takes up 1.14gb of the memory card. So 768mb left. Is that enough space for the SAVE files?
On the other card i have 35 games and 1.60gb used and 292mb spare. These are games so enough space for save files?.

Cheers.

before i go to read the rest, i thought you just dropped the software (games) in to the root of the mem cards ie no extra folders to be created.

carry on reading ur first post now

you can either go back into your mem card and just remove the folder nds games or what ever you called it.

most game saves tend to be 512k, if you have 35 games then multiply 32 by 512 ( 18 meg i think).

dont forget that you can also save your game saves to your pc just incase something goes wrong and someone deletes your saved game.

and can you turn the ds on and go straight to the list of games?
i have no idea, all it takes it 1 press of a button to get onto the list so i wont bother finding out if it is possible, try going onto some of the nintendo ds mod sites there are a few around.

OK semi certain all your doing wrong is creating an NDS folder, try just dropping the games in to the root

What firmware are you using? Are you sure it's the R4 one and not the M3 (latest R4 is 1.14 http://www.r4ds.com/download-en.htm)? And also the correct language (I think I read you can't just use Eng on a Chinese card).

I did exactly what you did and it works fine. I created a folder called Games for the nds games. When you click games you just go to the folder with your games in, they aren't just listed there.

If you can see my last post (I can't see it or edit it), just get rid of the bracket from end of link.

The above picture (if i've inserted it correctly) is the root of my mem card.

the red area are my games and the purple area are my game saves

mine is a different flash card than yours but they all pretty much work on the same principle

That's an M3 though, isn't it?

^ Ignore that :D

You do need to create a folder for your games though. I don't think dropping them straight to root works.

Are you sure you're using firmware 1.14. And the R4 firmware. http://www.r4ds.com/download-en.htm
