Help with Royalmail delivery problems!

I honestly do not know how to handle this but I am helpless. This started about 12 months ago. Whenever I have a parcel or recorded delivery/packet , no driver turns up to do the delivery but 1 or 2 days later I get a card saying you were out and your delivery has been taken back to the delivery office.

This has happened uncountable number of times and I have called them up no less than 15 times but to no avail. I am helpless and I cannot continue like this.

What can I do.

Call the H/O and lodge a complaint........they will pass it on to the manager.......if he ignores it then you ring back and they investigate him as well. :)

That's odd,is it in your area no van is available and they just give the letter postman cards to say a parcel ready for collection ? I know here the letter postman also delivers small parcels like comp games, and larger items come later on by van.
Some people don't do their jobs, like last week the green waste recycling did not get taken and I had to call up and they collected next day, they had cheek to knock on door about 8am too asking where it was, when it was in full sight on end of driveway.I don't think they had been at all the day before and was going leave it another fortnight cos not that many do recycling and they didn't want to take the trouble to come down the road for few bags on the day collection was due.

How does the card arrive ,Surely the card comes with the parcel ?.

i have a van thats delivers parcels seperate to letters

also about rubbish collections i give up valuble space in my small kitchen (1bed room flat with 2 adults 1 baby so not a lot of space) for a recycling bin, only for me to watch the binmen chuck all the normal rubbish in with recycling!!!! needless to say i do not bother anymore

If its a small packet, the normal postman does the delivery but other than that, i only get a card. Also the normal postman usually drops the card when he does his rounds, and he came around to drop the card one day and Immediately i saw the card, i ran after him and he protested saying it wasnt him but the driver, that I should call the driver, I also spoke to the manager of the delivery office in my area who promised to call me everytime there was a delivery for my address to check I was in before the driver comes so that they can determine if the driver was lying or not. but she never called and I have made several complains both at the office and over the phone but no result. I have reached a point where I no longer wnat royalmail to deliver my letters if I had a choice.

so in other words you are not in when the card comes....

speaks for itself really

My arguement is if the driver came on the said day, he should have left the card there and then because that is what I normally experience before all this started, but I get the card 1-3 days later saying I was not in 2 days ago. Also he no longer write the supposedly time he came around but he just puts down "a.m" or "p.m"

so how come you can never catch the postman delivering these cards?

Are you sure the parcels are delivered by royal mail and not parcelforce.
with just one delivery now the time span for delivery is anytime from 7am - 1700 depending on how the staffing and workload is.
if you are out the driver will normally leave a docket left card which says they attempted to deliver but you were out and gives you the options ie re-delivery or you collect from the callers office after enough time has elapsed to allow the parcel to go back through the mail system to the delivey office.
if you have been in contact with the delivery office manager and are not satisfied with the outcome of your complaint ring the national number on 08457 740 740.

I said earlier that I have challenged the postman a few times about the card and he said its wasnt him but the driver. Also the postman is not expected to knock your door during a delivery but to drop the letter through the letter box, but if its a bigger item he would press the bell or knock.

The delivery is by royalmail and not parcel force. And I have said this several times that I dont get the card until 1-3 days later , which is the annoying bit sure if an attempt was made for a delivery today A card should be left today and not 2 days later without a specific time but just saying "A.M"
#19
it does sound as if something is not right as you say a card should have been put through the door at the time of attempted delivery. could be the driver being lazy or the system has changed as ive been out of rm for 4 years now. i would ring the national number i gave you and they will deal with the complaint and the delivery office manager will have to deal with it properly.

My wife actually caught the lazy begger postman putting a note through the door instead of ringing the bell. She was downstairs and heard the letterbox flap rattle so she looked and saw the card hanging down from the letterbox.

She opened the front door and called him back. He walked back down the drive and when she challenged him for the parcel he said that he'd have to go to the van to get it. He hadn't even taken it out of the van, just walked down the drive and posted the 'while you were out' card.

I made an official complaint to the Post Office and they gave me a reference number. To be fair, it hasn't happened since, so either he's been disposed of, or he's learned his lesson.

Moral: complain, bitterly and demand a response as to outcome.

why not just keep insisting on a re-delivery online (takes 30 secs).

driver will soon get fed up with having to deliver all these cards lol

and look out for postie and check for any cards just before he arrives and just after.

What happened was he dropped the letters along with the card andImmediately I picked up the mail and saw there was card in there I hurriedly opened the door and saw him scuffling away as quick as possible and i went after him and all he kept saying was its the driver its the driver, he is an elderly man aroung 70+ years of age. he also came around to deliver a small packet on a saturday morning and also brought a card from the previous day. Am I expected to answer the door when the post is put through? or just to collect the post. Do you answer the door whenn the postman delivers your mail, because I do not understand your repeated questions about answering the door.

are the parcels large as a van only goes out with large ones bigger than say a shoebox and the postie is responsible for anything smaller?

maybe as hes 70+, he's not delivering what he is supposed to so just writes out a card and delivers it a day or two later.

ig they are large parcels, its pretty clear then that the driver isnt bothering and just giving the card to the postie to deliver. In which case, I would confront the postie and say the next time he puts a card through, then you will be reporting him.

Your postie should be bringing small parcels along with the mail anything bigger is given to the van driver to deliver, By the sounds of it either the van driver is too lazy to drive to your house and is putting delivery notes in the posties delivery station which he is posting to you the next day or the postie is too lazy to carry your parcels and is writing delivery notes before even trying to deliver, Best bet is to watch your door the next time your expecting a parcel and if a note gets posted straight away then whoever done it has pre-written them at the sorting office, When I was a postie years ago you would knock the door when you had a parcel and if nobody answered THEN you would write you delivery note at the door step, Everytime you get one of these then phone your depot and tell them to get the postie/van driver to bring it back out, Just keep complaining and ask for the manager everytime till they get sick of you phoning and someone gets their **** kicked.
