I wonder if anyone can help, everytime i try to record something on my box the channel its recording comes up no satellite signal being received. Now as soon as i stop the recording the channel shows ok,if iam recording two channels then it will only recore one and still shows no satellite signal being receieved.I have tried doing the norm ie unplugging the box and turning off etc but no luck.Is the box cream crackered do you think?

you need a new lnb
#2
Sky+ uses two feeds - sounds like one of them is stuffed. If you are lucky it will just be the cable. Try swapping them around and see what happens.

dual lnb stuffed
#4
i had this with my sky+ and it was the wire which was faulty
#5
Is the lnb the cable that goes from the dish?i have sky multi rooms which is ok upstairs and the signal strength is good.
#6
no the lnb is the cup shaped thing on the centre of the dish
#7
Thanks for your help fellas, where can i buy one of these and is it easy to change and do i have to buy a particular one.
#8
contact sky tell them the lnb is dead and you might get one free(if you threaten to leave)
#9
Ok many thanks, but how do i know its definitely the lnb and surely if i have sky + in two rooms then i would need a quad lnb?by the way the box upstairs works normally.

You're kidding right?, unless its under 12 months of fitting the cheeky robbing gits will charge you £60 to come out then £20 for LNB.

If possible swap around the cables on the quad lnb, process of elimination.

How many Sky boxes do you have and of what type?

Do both Sky+ boxes have the same problem?

Do both Sky+ boxes have strong signals under services button>system settings>signal test?

I ask the first question to get an idea of how many feeds you would need, the second to rule out a faulty box and the third to check if the cable or LNB is faulty on the bad box. If you get Sky but can't record I would say it is either a faulty HDD, bad cable or bad LNB. Either that or you haven't set up SKY+ (twinned card and whatnot).

Ok i have two sky boxes ,the one upstairs works perfectly ok.The one down stairs will record but if you go onto another channel it comes up no sat signal being received 34,if i stop recording then i can watch every channel ok.Its been ok for the last couple of years so cant understand it,if it was the lnb surely it would affect the other box?

Phone Sky.

My, long out of warranty, box started to randomly switch off and was driving me mad. I phoned Sky telling them that unless I got a free engineer visit I'd cancel my subscription.

2 days later the free engineer fitted a new free box without even testing the old one and I got another 12 month warranty - I even got to keep the remote as a spare.

It's £65 to get the problem fixed, replacement parts are included in that :?

Try a LNB Reset

Press Services
Numbers 4,0,1 then Select
Press Select to go into LNB Setup
Press the Down Button to scroll to LNB Power Supply
Press the Left Button to switch LNB Power Supply to Off
Press the Down Button to scroll to 22kHz Command
Press the Left Button to switch 22kHz Command to Off
Press the Down Button to scroll to Save New Settings
Press Select

Wait 60 seconds....

Press Select
Press the Red Button to reset the settings
Press the Down Button to scroll to Save new Settings
Press Select
Press the Sky Button to go back to the channels

Try recording again

If that doesn't work, put your box into standby, wait a minute, switch off your box at the wall, wait another minute, switch back on, wait another minute then press the Sky Button and try again. If that doesn't work then it's something hardware wise

Must have changed that then, I was under the impression from past experiences by friends and what sky have told me that the £60 was just for the pleasure of an engineers company, maybe a tweaked dish but not parts.

So you have a Sky+ box that seems to only be receiving one feed?

Go into Services>system setup>signal test and see if input 1 & 2 have two grey bars each. Sounds like either you have a faulty cable (or loose connection) or one LNB feed has gone bad.
