Just wondering before i buy another bed if anyone has any advise or knows anything that might help.

I bought a double bed a while ago but didnt actually use it for quite some time and the slats appear to be a little too small or maybe the bits they go in arent strong enough, not too sure which one, they keep coming out when i lye on the bed and i'm only about 10 stone so its not my weight lol

The shop i bought it out of has since closed down so can't even contact them to see if they can help.

Is it possible i could buy new slats or something?

I've tried tightening the bed whilst the slats are all in but it stil happens.

its a leather double bed and cost quite a bit so would be gutted if i need to buy a whole new bed as money is quite short but i keep waking up as the slats fall out during the night!

Any help or advise with this would be really appreciated

Thanks guys

Thin sheet of marine ply, and bob's your uncle!
#2
Or screw some battens to the bed so the slats have more to sit on.
#3
yeah just get a sheet of 9mm ply and drill loads of 32mm holes in it vor ventilation or measure fof new slats, go to b&q think your first 2 cuts are free!
hope this helps!

the worst bed we ever bought had slats! we had to change it and bought a metal one and have had no bother with slats its bliss :)
#5
cant you screw the slats down?
#6
We had the same trouble, so went to ikea bought some more slats, can either cut them to size or just place them straight on top the ones already there, worked with our bed.

Picture might help - why can't you just screw them in place?

the slats aren't the straight ones , they are oval i guess is how you would describe them and they fit into little bits at each side that are plastic and the same for the other side of the bed but when they go in either side they just dont feel secure and obviously they arent as they are falling through, theres no screws at all they just go into the plastic bit, i'll try and get a pic on, cheers :)

yeh sme as my daughters....is there a way to pull the sides of the bed in and secure with a piece of wood?you would have to remove the slats and get a piece the correct size and then push both sides together and screw it in? failing that remove the sprung slats and replace with ones which you can trim to size?

I have had this problem and i bought a pack of 20 chopsticks from muji, lay them ened to end in the slats, this stops them sliding..

I know a few people who have done this, is easy, cheap (£3 for chopsticks) and works..
