Help with TV / DVD Resolutions

Hi all

I'm trying to watch a 2.35:1 DVD on my 16:9 LCD.

Although I realise I will have some degree of black banding around the screen it seems exessive.

It looks as if the picture is displaying in 4:3 with the 2.35:1 displaying inside that so I'l losing almost 1/2 of the screen top & bottom.

I've tried changing to zoom, wide zoom with no effect.

Any advice appreciated.

Setup menu on your DVD player ... TV Output options, change to "Widescreen" or "16:9" depending on the menu

Righty ho

Just managed to get it looking ok but had to:

- Set the DVD to think my TV is 4:3.
- Set the TV to "wide".

There has to be an easier way than this every time I want to watch a 2.35:1 DVD ??

Thats what it was set at - never had a problem before.

Sounds like the DVD is not "Anamorphic" ... it is the term for the automatic removal of dead area and rescaling of picture ... only tends to be on older DVDs and some custom made ones

Tep si666 Your right & I think this is compounded by a issue with my Toshiba HD-EP30.

It also goes full screen when I reduce the resolution output from the DVD.

Ah well - at least I know how to get it looking ok without too much hassle.

Cheers
