Hi can anyone help please,
Bought my Dad a Motarola Razr2 V8 luxury Edition from a seller on Ebay. Phone was new and stated unlocked. He is a UK seller. Anyway my dad has been on vodafone for the last 2 months and then I got him a simplicity sim only contract with O2. The phone does not comes up with Unrecognised sim, I have contacted the seller and he has told me to send the phone off to his Service department ( he is a private seller, But does sell alot of phones )
He then sent me an email telling to hold on with sending the phone as he wanted to check something first!! That was the last I heard from him at the moment, that was 2 days ago and have sent him an email today, Bought an unlocking code from a seller on Ebay with over 25000 positive feedback but am having no joy as there seems to be no place to put the code in!!! Does anyone have any ideas? Am I covered by ebay policy as the item was sold as unlocked when it is locked, bearing in mind I have had this phone for 2 months and this has only come to light now. Any feedback would be great and get a nice Rep.
Thanks :)

Instructions I used to send to my customers

To enter the code place a different SIM card in the phone and it should ask for a special/unlock code. Enter the 8 digit code when requested. Press ok. Your phone is now unlocked.

If the phone displays 'contact provider' or 'contact service' you have to leave it switched on showing contact provider and it will change to 'insert special code'. This can take anywhere from 5 minutes up to around 72 hours.

If the above does not work, try **057*CODE
you may have to press ok after entering the code, but the phone should now be unlocked.

Hi thanks, the phone does not ask for a code simply says unregisted sim.
when you say**057*CODE do you mean the word code or the code I received from the unlocker ebyer. thankyou :)

what happens exactly when you switch teh phone on with the wrong sim in?

It comes as normal and then when I have the O2 sim in it says in the top left hand corner unregistered sim. Maybe the phone has to be hooked up to a computer via usb?
What do you think?

unregisted sim means it's barred or a invalid sim if it was locked it would ask you for a Subsidy Code

either the sim isn't active or the phone is barred as above.
