Hi all,

I have lots of HD media files which I want to stream to the xbox to watch. I am getting nowhere with them, I have tried loadsa different conversion software but the xbox wont find anything.

I have installed (an none worked) WMP11, Twonky Media, VMC and the Zune software.

I have catagorised all my files within folders. ie i:/media/videos/hd/bluray name/bluray file

The xbox hasn't found a single thing!!! I have even put a single HD file onto a memory stick and that too wont show...

Does anyone know whats going on???

Cheers,

J

Yeah, this transcodes the feed into something the xbox can understand. If the picture quality and sound are HD im happy...

Streaming hd has nothing to do with how good your processor or graphics card is unless you are converting it.

What files are you trying to stream?

Gotsend was very promising, I was able to get a Pixar short HD working with that. I tried converting a full bluray and it turned it from 9gb to 650mb and looked naff. like a bad divx rip.

I was using re-encode to h264 HQ. It was shocking!

Ive been converting mkv's to hd wmv files as well. Never had a problem streaming them. Im using WMP11on Vista/Win7 and Windows Media Connect on WinXP.
Maybe your firewall is a problem.

Do the converted files work when put on a mem stick or hdd and plugged directly into the 360?

Nope...

How are you trying to play them directly? There is a 4gb limit on fat32 and the 360 cant read ntfs.
Maybe there is a problem with the files. Why not try to stream a normal file first to make sure its not a connectivity problem.

you can get round the 4gig limit by formating HFS
you will need to install macdrive to do this

I use xenonmkv, it keeps the video quality and down samples the audio and then repackages them both into an mp4. It will also automatically split your file if it's over 4GB.
