Help writing a CV

Okay, someone tried to help me last time but i basically snubbed it. *No offence*

Well now the time has come to start handing out CV's.

But I don't have a clue or a templete, mainly a clue.

Could anyone help me or link me to some really good sites that help you with creating a CV?

I have Open Office 2.3 if that will help me at all?

I will grately appreciate it, seeing as i'm not too smart in the CV department, my beloved JDeal said he'd help me but snubbed me! *cough*

Rep to all who help.

Okay, searching through my PC I found some templates..

and the first paragraph is this

OBJECTIVE
[Type Objective Here]

What would I exactly put there.. *i am dumb*

first off dont copy a template employers can spot this.

start with name etc
then school details
then employment history
finally in mine i had a skills section in which i looked at the skills required for the job and beside each skill i demonstrated how i had shown this skill in life

once you download a template you can amend it to suit your requirements, i argee with allstar but also add any qualifications you have

that can be covered in education? or previous jobs i think?
#7
for a part time i wouldnt worry too much, i work at argos and i didnt even need to hand one in, its 30% CV but most importantly 60% interview. ofcourse CV helps to get you to the interview stage mate but if its a part time job just fil in some application forms.

gd luck

I've got quite a nice format (a bit different from the norm) for my CV. I can send you it if you like?
#12
you couldnt send it to me could you. My cv needs a revamp and I need a kick up the ass to loo around for something better since splitting with hubby! Would appreciate a copy of yours so I can compare...after that will be getting my driving license when I get agree time off with boss as I stay about 40 miles away from main work location then some self education and updating my skills but awkward when working full time and single mum of toddlers as am usually out of house between 6:30 and 5:30 because of my lifts times, then after that kids till 8pm, then my supper!

PM me your email and I'll send it. Just give me a few mins to edit out some sensitive info ;-)
#14

As someone who has had to look and select from countless CVs the few main points that I can't stress enough is please please please check your spelling over and over again and read over a few times. There is nothing worse than having to interview people who you already think don't care about the job because they show a lack of care, especially if it is a part time job. If you show care on the CV you are half way there since most people don't give a fig.

The other thing is that most places these days have at least something that has to be written by hand, so take care with your spelling again but write neatly. I've had so many I've had to dump in the past as I just can't read them at all!

There are other points but I think a lot have been covered in most of the good answers above.
