HelpPcOnline -- Really helpful guys and willing to help........

RickTRickT

A few hours ago I had a call on my mobile phone.. (its a first on my mobile for this type of call as normally its my landline !!)

Just had some great advice from the "your computer is running slow and errors in Event viewer" call centre.

This time my PC was a Windows 7 with a dual boot which kept loading unbunta first...... until i pulled the keyboard in and pressed the "down" arrow"

Once the PC had loaded...( well.. when he thought... ) I followed his instructions.... This point he thought we went through the full process of looking at the errors in event viewer etc etc which i started questioning why, how, have you done this long etc etc.... then told be to go to HelpPcOnline.... which i confirmed to him I did......... (dont worry... keep reading)

Then he asked me what was on screen.... I then confirmed "Norton" had blocked the site.. (it was the only AV/firewall i could think of!!)
He then talked me through settings on Norton (which i had no idea about as i have not used Norton for years) but i just said yes.... yes.... settings... yes.. and confirming with him.

He then said try the URL again, -- error this time... "Windows Firewall has blocked the page"

At this point he then told be how to disable the windows firewall etc etc.... and try again....

After around 25 minutes on the call, i was getting a bit bored and the traffic was moving again on the M62 so I fancied listening to some more music, so I told him thank you for all the advice, I will give it a go when I get home...

His reply..... you are not in front of a PC ??

Me:-No, Im sat in traffic in the car,.

The cheeky begger then hung up without even saying good bye!!

The way i look at it is for that 20 minutes, it may of stopped someone else falling victim from this scam.

All in a days work

Cracking, had similar the other day but said I was in in the bath when he asked if I was in front of the PC. Got to take them up the garden path for the audacity of trying to scam.

Whats the scam if they have phoned you?

Do they try and get you to hand over bank details or something?

    Not heard of this, had the call from the 'Microsoft Team' saying they have been informed my internet is running slow and for a one off fee someone will come round and sort it :{

I still keep getting these calls at home and it is rather tedious. Last few times I say 'wait a moment just need to get my laptop' put call on loudspeaker and mute my end.
Record so far has been 32 mins they have kept waiting. Lots of Hallo Missers Smith are you there - hallo - hallo..... Missers Smith.....

oldmanhouse your lucky, in the past 4 weekdays i've had 4 calls getting really annoying, when they phone me tomorrow, think i'll tell them i own an amiga 1200. see what they say then, some poor old lady however i read on a forum, did give them access to her computer, and her bank details, they cleaned her out.

All you need to do is say "no thank you". It is not fair to keep them hanging on if you have no intention of buying their services. Remember they are in a job they probably don't enjoy and are under a lot of pressure.
    Be polite!

Had the same phone call last month from HELP PC ONLINE..but it was a different case for me as because my PC was running Slow and having problems with some of the drivers as well, and as i am not that techie i followed their instructions and at the end they ask me to pay 99.99 for subscription of their service for one year and said they will provide all the antivirus for my computer as well..so i readily paid and not only subscribe it for one year but three years of service and i don't regret it because i am really happy with their services.they really solved out all my problems and also provided the antivirus...and not only that they also call me up every month for PC clean up and Optimization..

Just had them on with their everything is free spiel only to go through taking addresses and then they hit me with registration cost £8 approx and then the clincher £99.99 to get up and going. That is when our call ended. I have since checked various scam sites and this one is up there with the best of them. Buyer beware
