I'm guessing, seeing as the OP has been looking at the FS/FT forum, that the BT they are after is Bank Transfer. ;-)

Basically it's a method of transfering money between bank accounts. There are two different methods:

BACS - Bankers Automated Clearing Services
- Free of charge.
- Money usually takes 4 working days to clear (usually faster than this if you are using the same bank as the person you're sending money to.)

CHAPS - Clearing House Automated Payment System
- Costs between £20 - £35 (depending on your bank)
- Money is transfered on the same working day.

You can do a BT from your bank, or from your on-line bank account. Most people mean the BACS method when they say BT, but if you do it from a bank, make sure you tell them that you want it to be a BACS transfer, otherwise they may end up using the CHAPS method and charging you.
