60gb has 4 usb ports

plus the 60gb can play ps2 games and has memory card slots

The older 60GB model has backwards PS2 support although it's software only, it also has card readers, four USB ports, a shiny front and SACD support. Most people aren't too bothered by these features and go for the newer revisions without these features.

The ps2 backward compatability is hardware not software it uses an emotion chip

The uk ones were software, the USA ones used an emotion chip :)

Not the PAL versions - the NTSC 60GB models had basically a slimline PS2 chip within them which meant they had full hardware backwards compatibility. However the 60GB UK PS3's did not have this chip and instead had a basic GPU component (the so called Graphics Synthesizer) allowing the unit to use software emulation for PS2 backwards compatibility. The removal then of the GS chip in the 40GB units (and their successors) meant no PS2 backwards compatibility at all.
