Best get that checked at the doctors... its pretty high but nothing to instantly stress about

yeah its worth investigating as it would probably put the heart under more stress so could lead to problems later on in life

yes it is, the average is like 70-90

how tall is he and how much does he weigh.

when you tested his HR how long did you measure it for, and was he sitting or lying down.

mine is like 58 an hour and half after a meal. If i checked it first thing in the morning I think I can get it to a low 50.

what about the other questions I asked, was he sitting down or lying down when the test was taken.

was the equipment reliable?

seems way to high for a resting HR for a guy his weight and height.

If you're worried then its worth getting it looked into.
However at 16 it may just be that his heart hasn't matured into an adult rhythm yet, this is fairly common.
This happened to me and even at 21 my heart was still beating at about 120.
I was a cardiac technician and the cardiac consultant told me this was fairly normal in teenagers.

mines like 58 below (Ballin)

This is the low end of the 'normal' spectrum and most people that have this sort of rate are just oober fit.
Its not really the sort of rate that people in general have. Well done you BG

Average seems to be 60-100 on Google.

This is classed as the 'normal' range, most people fit into the 70 - 90 range.
For a teenager its quite common that they still have more of a childs heart rate, and its also common that they would fluctuate between a childs rate and an adults so that on a heart monitor or long ECG the rate would constantly change. This is usually when they are changing over into an adult rhythm, its all change at this time, and this is also when the heart finally completes its move across to the other side of the chest.

ECG will show if he is in sinus tachycardia. If it started yesterday might be a chance of being SVT.Need to make a GP appointment today mate. Heart rate should be 60 to 100bpm.Childrens heart rates are higher but 120 is normal for a baby or toddler not a 16 year old. By the way are you counting for a full minute?Dont count for half a minute as this is inaccurate espec in kids.
It is prob something simple and they will need to check Thyroid...Let me know what it is hun.PS If no doc appointment ask if Practice Nurse does ECG's.

Cool - I got 57 both times I tested myself. I'm going to have to try harder to reduce it (slight heart trouble history in my family, it's something I need to try and avoid), but I'm rather pleased with myself for seeing that. Thanks for posting that link.
