I saw a post this morning saying they were down, weird that they have been down all day.
#2
All 'down for maintenance'...

Seems a bit strange tbh....
#3
Wow, have they gone bust?

LOL?

In this climate its the first thing that crosses your mind.

You'd think a major group would do maintenance over night and not take this long.

The Dixons site has actually been down since last night as I was on it when it went.
Does seem strange that all their sites have been down all day today.

Not quite - pcwb is still up (& relieved I was to see it)

Oh yes - £250 on debit card - I don't think so (not to mention the 5% egg cashback).

While I'm here, anyone ever found the inclusive credit you buy at CPW harder to find than lord lucan?

Ordered before new year, called them the next day as they refused my card (hence losing my topcashback), still no credit in new year, called again, let myself be fobbed off with 8 working days, then checked site (says 2 working days) & called again, had to battle to get something done, which would take 2 days & tonight, 2 weeks after ordering had to call again. Oh how stupid was I putting that on debit card (or how clever were they in rejecting my 2 credit cards)?

Still down! Anyone know if I can phone or go instore for an update on an online order? I have checked saynoto0870.com - loads of store phone no's, but no online CS (closest is online payment issues line).

I want my netbook!!!

Instore won't be able to help, they don't have access to online orders.

there is a way stores can check the online orders, i forget what it is called now. MCSD i think, this will show the sale, they will be able to bring it back on the till system now.

And also, even if the pcwb website is still up, PCWB is not owned by pc world, it is owned by another company, which is exactly the same website, just different logos. I forget what its called tho.

So something is going on, share prices 21p - ouch.

KEEP A LOOK OUT ON HERE AND DONT ASK ME HOW I FOUND THE SITE AS I MAY HAVE TO CHOMP YOU

all our shops are trading as normal.

there has been nothing on our system at work about the sites being down, all our internal intranets are fine and we did a full days trading today and hit store targets.

it MAY actually just be some technical problems.
DSGI are finding it tough on the high street but certainly arent in any financial trouble.
they have a £300m bond thats due to expire soon and are raking in the cash from some of the euro branches like Elkjop.
It may be a redesign of the sites with new logos or something, or maybe just getting rid of all the clearance lines which are now gone.

either way, the shops themselves are fine
pc world 30m loss was the first loss reported in TWENTY FIVE YEARS.

"there has been nothing on our system at work about the sites being down"

So the sites have been down all day, but nothing has been communicated to the stores about it to help with customer queries?...

Few thoughts:-

1. They forgot to renew the domain name when came up for 2 yearly renewal, because to busy fixing other people computers....

2. Someone else owned domain and have not extended the rights further due to not receiving enough enducements!!

3. The guys the website, know something we dont and have decided if they are not getting paid at the end of the month for the work they have done, they might as well not do the work:whistling:

any other posibilities please add

its all very odd

Wrong Attitiude ! i'm hardly PC Worlds biggest fan, but see the bigger picture please.
Good people losing their jobs, houses getting repo'd, kids having to be told they cant have a holiday this year, the list goes on.
Get a life and grow up.

Sometimes its easier appreciate the strain that redundancy, or the failure of a business can place on the family unit when you been involved in it first hand.
Have a laugh, make light of it, whatever, that's your right, I was just trying to make the point that the view 'Well its a **** store, who cares if it goes bust' is flawed.
Let keep our fingers crossed that love it or loath it, PC World will not be another casualty of the recent downturn.

On the other hand, DSGi's staff are all either dishonest, or make a living out of institutionalised dishonesty. I've no sympathy for any members of any organisation that operate the way they do, and will be glad when they announce that they've gone into administration.

you're all heart.

so when THOUSANDS of people lose their jobs cos the stores YOU don't like go bust, you're pleased?
I hope I never ever meet you.
thats possibly one of the most selfish things I've ever read on this website.

and I'd say that even if i didnt work for Currys.
cos you've just implied that I personally make a living dishonestly, which puts me in the same category as scum like drug dealers.
if this was a real life meeting, we'd be in the car park and you'd be unconcious for a comment like that.
#33
all 3 sites are back up, maybe you need to erase your internet history and look again

Guys, I am pleased to report that I have got signed in!!! All looks well (delivery instructed)!!! Can anyone shed any light on how long it will take to get here (Northern Ireland) if it was updated at 2am (when the technical probelm was sorted???)?

I didn't like to state the obvious worry I had (didn't want to start runs on the stores) & I am glad to see it seems to have been the technical issues they said - there must be good people working for them - I just have yet to meet them. ;-)
#37
Phew, glad to see they are back!!

Although having a technical fault like that in this climate is not the best idea, wonder how many people would think twice before ordering anything from them today? lol
#38
I love PCworld - for once my luck was in - they have put the price back up - £280 again! Yay! I feel like I got a bargain now! (Or more correctly I will have when it arrives - fingers crossed for tomorrow.)
