Few threads re. holidays knocking around, 7 nights in Zante found for reasonable money in May, so questions are:

A - is it nice?
B - Weather, in May will it be silly hot or just nice hot
C - anything to do outside of sun bathing

Advice appreciated :)

couple of years since I went, also in may. Weather warm hot for the time of year. I stayed in laguanas mostly beaches and bars, so rather depends where you are. Small island, six hour boat trip to sail around. Plenty water activities and also there are the turtles to see or chase at the time you are thinking of going. Big two metre things. It is a very popular island with the Germans, or it used to be. The port has a ferry connection that takes you on several trips over to the mainland (Mount Olympus etc.) but I forget its name.

zante is one of my favourite greek islands, we went in august several yrs ago & it was a nice hot.. stopped in alykanas which was very quiet & pretty. the blue cave trip is a must, you get to jump off the boat and have a fab swim about, went on a barbeque night where we sailed to a pretty beach that was great too.. and if you are lucky you get to see the loggerhead sea turtles, we also had dolphins follow our boat it was a wonderful sight

Just ignore. Trolls never leave their dark caves.

My sweeping statement of 2008 was 'there's nothing within a 5 hour flight worth seeing'

You gotta be kidding - there's lots of great places to be seen here in the UK and in Europe! I am assuming you are just on a wind up!

I have been to Zante 3 times - (when my mum was paying) She loved the place and went back further times, but I grew up and started going on my own holidays.

We always really loved it - as previously stated - great beaches, great weather - people are lovely.

TBH though - I liked Rhodes much better - I love the old ruins and castles etc.

Zante was still a good holiday and worth going on.

You can drive round and explore the whole island within a day easily. It might pay you to hire your car before you go and get the quidco or Tesco clubcard points. I stayed in Tsilivi in May a couple of years ago and the weather was very good indeed. It will be hot enough to sun bath and swim at the beach.
If you decide to see the Navagio ship wreck you can get there overland by car (its better than the other way if you don't like swimming) and photograph the place from above. The mini boat trip (I was stuck on that boat for 8 hours grrrrr). Its actually just a rusty old tanker washed up on the beach. There arn't even any pirates! http:[email protected]/3328157572/< shipwreck

They have this strange green drink called metaxis. It doesn't taste very nice but its cheap and you can get well mullered on it if you mix it with red bull.
have a nice holiday!

We've been the last 3 years and like it so much that we are going again this summer and getting married whilst we are out there

Where abouts are you looking to stay?

I geniuinely meant it when I said it but in fairness I may have been a little hasty. I would never go back to Zante again though.
