Holiday mid March - Can i lose this much weight?

Over xmas like probalby alot of us on here ive put a bit of weight on (Well, it stretches back to alot longer than xmas!!)

Basically im a 31 year old male, 5 foot 9 and weigh 181lbs (12 stone 13lbs)

I have already started to eat better and am going to take on much more regular exercise between now and Mid March. Ive cut out the beer (now had voddies and diet coke when i go out, which isnt too often anyways) and have cut out the chocolate fizzy pop etc.

Realistically, what can i see to lose between now and then? I would be very happy to get down to 170 for my holidays, perhaps even a tiny bit further (so this is a min of an 11 lb loss in about 9 weeks) is this realistic?

... & it's normally in the first 6/8 weeks that the most amount of weight is lost

Remember that you may find that you dont loose weight as muscle is heavier than fat so its the inches that your looking to loose not always the weight. Measure various parts of your body and re-measure every few weeks.

I'm 12 stone 13 and around about 5 ft 8/9. I have no issues about my weight at all. My BMI says I'm slightly overweight, but I feel fit and healthy.

you can do it easily...9 weeks...week one you lose the most ..so aim for 4 ib and then aim for around 3 ib a fortnight(anything more is a bonus)...you can lose a stone for your hols...i lost 6 and a half stones over 2 years ago and maintained it ..i did slimming world at home, got the magazine, joined a gym ...eat when your hungry and stop when your full...lots and lots of luck...your not that heavy(unless your 4ft 0..lol)so you have a head start......xxxxxxx

i wouldnt feel so bad about the weight it was evenly distributed. Its all on the belly mainly and on the face. I understand it will drop from all places at the same time but these are the key areas

Yes, should be OK.

I have lost almost 2 stones in about 10 months. I was about 12st 10 - now 11:3 and exactly the same height as you.

I did it mainly through exercise. We got a dog last year and walking that every day for at least 45 minutes got rid of the weight really quickly. Also ate a bit less **** but mainly it was down to the regular exercise.

dont think of yourself as on a diet..just eat healthy, have the odd treat and do lots of calorie burning excercise ..and some toning up work....

11lbs in 9weeks is a realistic goal. 1-2lbs per week is a good safe aim to lose each week. on a proper diet and hard exercise you could lose as much as 18lbs in 9weeks, but it will take alot of hard work!

good luck.

yeah have drawn up a circuit around the area i live. Im not unfit as i play football, badminton on a regular basis. Thinking of jogging around an area thats about 1.5 miles long every other day of the week, see if that helps me along a bit as well

I don't drink. Well I do every now and then, but in the past month I have probably only had maybe 10 units of alcohol, haven't had a drop since Xmas.

The main thing giving me my "beer belly" was stuff like cakes, biscuits etc. So I cut most of them out.

Once you start exercising, you might not even notice the change in your appearence, I didn't at first. But people keep saying "have you lost weight"

...when you go down a trouser size, that's when you notice. Although it does mean having to buy new trousers/jeans etc!!

Or when you're able to fit back into the ones your gut has grown out of... :( I need to get off my **** and do some exercise this year - Since I stopped playing football about a year or so ago, my gut has been expanding, now becoming a problem -.- Rest of me is fine, just the gut.

Damnit Chris, motivate yourself!

so on first weigh in on this im now down to 179 which is a drop of 2 lbs in just under a week which isnt too bad. One more question for the people in the know. I have a route near to my house which is jog around. Its 1.7 miles long. I can jog round it in about 17 minutes but ache like hell the next day. Would it be better to carry on doing this, or walk round it at normal pace twice (3.4 miles) which is further, but wont leave me aching at all the next day?
